Justus 8 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Hello, I currently have my server running on a Windows PC. But since it eats too much power, I wanted to use a small server that can be on all the time. Now my question, what option is a good way to use the Emby server so that at least 5 devices can play movies at the same time that need to be transcoded. It would be nice if I can still use my setting with DLNA and LiveTV via a Hauppauge. Since I have no idea how powerful Raspberry PIs or Roku or something like that is I wanted to ask if I should buy something like that or rather a mini PC or something else entirely?
Luke 42077 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 @FrostByte can probably suggest a good Synology NAS if you're interested in going that route.
FrostByte 5392 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 If Synology is on your list, just make sure you get one with an Intel processor and 4K gpu because you transcode. However, I think you may find them underpowered for your needs unless you got a new XS model. Personally, if I transcoded and streamed to that many devices at once I would hook a NUC up to my NAS and install Emby server on the NUC. 1
Justus 8 Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 Thanks for the response. I think i will go with the NUC solution
