CrappyUserName 30 Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Probably not what people want to deal with but you can set custom subtitle colours with Advanced Sub Station (ASS - yes it's funny) format subtitles. You can also change where they appear on the screen. I use SubtitleEdit to format them and use &H00808080 as the colour (grey). I keep the subtitle files separate but I believe you can have them inside an MKV file. 1

Luke 42077 Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 We'll look at adding more subtitle color options. Thanks.
Utini 14 Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 +1 .. I get eye cancer because the white color is so bright. Especially with dark movie content. The grey from the "LG Media Server Player" is perfect imo.

Courage09 3 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I found some kind of solution. Set subtitles color to black with white background at 50% opacity. Now they are readable in HDR without burning your eyes. 2

Luke 42077 Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 The next update to the app will have a gray color option. 2
neik 873 Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I actually feel the same for the OSD itself, anything that can be done about it too? Especially with HDR content it's pretty bright, similar to the subtitles imo.

Hopefully we get more people to voice a want for this and it gets implemented. One of the reasons I think it doesn't get a lot of responses from users is that the ATV app already has it which a lot of people use. App parity would be nice though.
Courage09 3 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) It was so long I forgot Emby even exists. Does it finally supports grey or transparent subtitles for HDR movies? Edited September 28, 2022 by Courage09
