Unwatched Content Appearing in "Continue Watching"

I Added a new series to my library. 
I began watching S01E01, S01E02, S01E03, etc. 
If I back out to the home screen, I have the correct episode listed under "continue watching" for this series, however, I also have a second "continue watching" option for an episode (S08E10) from the same series, which has never been watched.
This phantom keeps reappearing anytime I watch any of the other episodes from this series.
I have tried:

- Right click episode options > select remove from continue watching. Episode returns after watching any other episode.
- Removed Season 8 from my library, refreshed library metadata and rescanned library files, added season 8 back to library, refreshed library metadata and rescanned library files. Episode returns after watching any other episode.

- Selected "watched" for whole Series, then selected "not watched" for whole Series.
- Checked to ensure there were no "watched" episodes preceding this episode in season 8.

K, just to confirm as there were some issues with CW in beta thread, so that's out of the way. 

Two things you might try:

1) Enable Next Up (Legacy) in Home Screen sections and check whether same behaviour can be observed

2) Remove complete series, not only Season 8, scan library, return series, scan again.

I removed the entire series from my library.
Rescanned library and refreshed metadata. 
Added series back to library.

The "continue watching" showed the last episode I watched from the newly added series immediately. This seems to indicate there is some other cache stored for "continue watching".
Enabling the "next up (legacy)" section to the home screen moved the phantom episode from "continue watching" to "Next up" section. 

I think that the solution is clearing the phantom cache, wherever it may be located. 
Do you know where this cache is located, and how to clear it?

Okay,

While staring endlessly at my home screen, I saw that I still had recordings within my recordings library. 
Guess what episode was in my recordings library... S08E10, lol

I changed the recordings library to not list anything in my "next up" or "continue watching" sections. 
problem solved!
