Is it possible to adjust the DVR recording quality?

I was unable to find a straight forward answer via search, is there an easy method for adjusting the DVR / Live TV recording?  I'm familiar with the playback options, but I'd like to reduce the quality while recording in hopes of reducing some stuttering or de-pixelating I am experiencing.

Hi.  No, the stream is recorded raw.  

You could convert them after being recorded, however.
