jtding 0 Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 I've noticed that when Emby scanning the folder , the ffprobe will obtain video information. This action will extremely slow down the scanning process , especially when my media files are in the cloud drive. You know, most of cloud service providers will limit the download stream. How can I disable ffprobe during the scanning? Is there any switch to shut it down? I've tried to delete the ffprobe in the /bin folder. But it will cause the play error.
rodainas 191 Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 If you use rclone to mount the files you can use vfs cache write flag and the scan will be much faster.

rodainas 191 Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 I have read using strm files can bypass the ffprobe, and only gets probed when playing the files for the first time.

rodainas 191 Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 (edited) The strm file is just a text file pointing to the path where the original file is located, one strm points to one video file. You will need a script or tool to automatically generate the strm from a given directory, I think you can get it on the forum if memory doesnt fail. Edited December 26, 2021 by rodainas Append
