JeremyG 30 Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 (edited) I have a number of UHD videos with TrueHD. TrueHD needs to be remuxed to be played on my Roku Ultra. For some movies this works just fine. For others, i get video corruption when the audio is being remuxed (but video is direct). With the exact same file, if I choose an audio track like "English Stereo" it goes to directplay and everything is fine (but sounds like crap) If i fast-forward into the movie, so parts get remuxed with no video corruption...but other parts do. This happens whether Hardware transcoding is enabled or diasabled. Any idea what this happens? ffmpeg-remux-d0e29c8c-2428-49bb-b1cc-d48b1d1fd722_1.txt Edited December 24, 2021 by JeremyG
Luke 42079 Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 HI, this may be improved following the 4.7 release of Emby Server. Thanks.
JeremyG 30 Posted December 24, 2021 Author Posted December 24, 2021 Is there some way to force them to transcode (instead of remux) so that i can watch them at least?
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 Specify a lower quality in the client. If you specify a bitrate lower than that of the media, transcoding is used to generate a stream at the lower bitrate. Paul

If you bring up the OSD during playback and click the gear you should have an option called Playback Correction that changed playback method depending on how many times clicked. But for a remux one click should change to transcode.
JeremyG 30 Posted December 27, 2021 Author Posted December 27, 2021 Awesome things, I didnt know this!
RanmaCanada 495 Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 You could also just replace your playback device?

But there are topics on every client/app having some sort of issue in a HEVC audio transcode environment. Or just ensure your media is Direct Playable per your owned device. But I guess I *could* take all my videos and re-package them and include one track where TrueHD is recoded as 5.1 But that would be a very time-consuming process!

Though I do agree to ensure that your media is Direct Playable on your devices.
rbjtech 5284 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 What are you using to remux the files ? In using the latest mkvtoolnix (v63/v64), I have not had any experience in adding/remuxing THD or DTS-HD including adding an AC3 default track - which is I suspect what you are trying to do / need to do ? But as all above have said, transcoding any form of UHD is a lucky dip - so the 'time consuming process' may be your only option if you want hassle free UHD playback - or buy clients that can natively play the HD Audio (Shield Pro etc..).
ebr 16184 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Hi. If you are running the beta server then you can test if this is improved with the current beta of the Roku app. Please let us know. Thanks.
JeremyG 30 Posted January 11, 2022 Author Posted January 11, 2022 Still not right, but "getting better". Will provide some specific feeback in the Roku beta area.
