Sigogglin 1 Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 I just installed two new movies, but Emby never sees them. I can see them on the fileserver, their permissions are the same as other movies that do work. Plex sees and plays them fine. When I manually kick off a library it wouldn't scan. I disabled "Enable real time monitoring" and kicked of another manual scan. This actually allowed the scan to proceed and I finally got something in the log file. There were some metadata picture files with bad permission on an older movie. After I fixed them, things scanned and my new movies showed up. Is it expect to silently fail to scan the libarary either automatic or manual when real time monitoring is enabled? I would have thought I would get the error messages in the log file without having to disable the real time monitoring. Of to gracefully ignore the files that were inaccessible and continue. thanks david

Sigogglin 1 Posted December 20, 2021 Author Posted December 20, 2021 I went onto the webpage and the Movies library hit the ... and chose scan library. It did report anything I could see to the log file and I didn't get a progress bar. After disabling real time monitoring, it did report to the log file, I did get a progress bar, and it also reported the issues it was seeing. Maybe it did scan, it just didn't do anything.
Luke 42078 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 OK, so are you all set now? Generally speaking if the scan doesn't have much to do, then the progress bar for the individual library may only appear briefly.
Sigogglin 1 Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 Yes, after I fixed the permission issues with the cover art, everything scanned in just fine. It seems that it just gives up to easily.
