Network Share and ubuntu mount emby does not have access.

Hello ,

So i have a qnap nas storage for storing my recordings. I have installed Ubuntu 20.4.3 and the latest emby server.  I have mounted the nas share to a folder on ubuntu but when i try to setup this as the default recording folder it says that the emby needs to have access to this. I look at the folder and it has my user as owner but root as group on the mounted folder. So when i do an umount of the nas share i can set the folder as the default record folder because i added the emby user to aclfacl for that folder.

Any ideas how i can do this on a network share that is mounted on ubuntu to be used by the emby server.?

Thanks

Hi, what is the folder path that you tried to add that gave you this message?

Also, have you taken a look at this?

Hello Luke

I am using the UNC path for the folder and also the network folder option. \\serverip\sharename

I can mount the share like this \\serverip\sharename to the folder on emby server /media.

I look at the folder /media and the files are showing in the share from the QNAP device but when i try to add this as the default recording folder for emby i get that error.

if i look at the folder ls -l i see owner and group as myself/root with rwxrwxrwx+ permissions.

Thanks

Hello Luke

I got this issue resolved by installing nfs-kernel-server on the ubuntu server. So i was now able to mount the qnap share to the folder on the ubuntu and set the default recording to this folder. I changed owner and group as you see below.

The problem is now i can not see the files in the folder

It shows and nothing found. image.thumb.png.74623e60d72eace40a0885e373039208.png

Any idea on this.

Can you go over your libraries path setups?

Sure what do you need to know.

There are no duplicate paths on the server

Hello, So i have removed the two paths /qnap/Movies and /qnap/TvShows from live tv section.

I have the default recording path for live tv to only /qnap.

I have added a library for movies and pointed it to the /qnap folder which is where the recordings also go.

If it go to that folder in the terminal is see all the files in the /qnap folder. When i go to Home My Media in the emby browser and click on the Movies Library there is nothing displayed but when there are files in the actual folder.

I did some recordings from live tv and they show in the folder in the terminal

But they do not show in the Movies Library or the Recordings.

Would be nice to get this working. Any suggestions on this.

I would run this on my QNAP but when i install the emby server on the qnap i do not get to see the guide but i do see the channels just not guide information and also there is no digital signature for the application not sure why emby does not sign the product. So that is why i have installed it on ubuntu 20.4.3 but on ubuntu i do not see the recordings on the movies .

Thanks Dave

I'd be happy to do a remote session and give any assistance I can offer if @mudbaby hasn't resolved this.
