Emby is skipping some missing episodes

I can't figure out why Emby is skipping the 1st episode of season 2 for Mike the Knight. I've tried taking the show out of the library, rescanning and then putting it back in, but episode 1 just won't show up.

It's in tvdb with a date, but it still won't show up.

When you find out let me know.  That is why I have to leave some series set to record all including repeats because if I set it to not record those episodes already in my library emby ends up skipping some of those episodes.  I spend a lot of time reconciling my library and deleting episodes I actually already have.....time emby should be using, not me.  But it has always been this way since I started using LiveTV over a year ago.

@Happy2Play You've been able to explain these metadata issues to me in the past, any idea what's going on here?

Can you show structure and naming scheme?

Just to be sure what server version and library metadata downloader order.

But most issue are from mismatching guide data to actual provider data is my understanding.

Cartoons are the worst as they are usually double episodes or naming in this cause.

Same episode different online sources.

I completely agree. Stupid Nick doubles up the episodes and orders them completely different than the way they were produced.  But some get scraped properly if you leave them in the as recorded order and leave the two episodes as one file.  I break them out when I edit the commercials out but that is no big deal as I name them correctly at that time and I know that emby won't match them so I just leave those types of shows to record everything and I delete most of what is recorded in 2 minutes every evening.

But....there are lots of shows on channels like the Science Channel where emby makes no sense because it will record a show I have in my library that is named the same in my library as the recordings library except mine have dashes where he spaces used to be.   Emby also sometimes skips episodes I don't have for certain shows so on those I have to leave it to record everything and I delete most.

The ANNOYING part of emby is if I leave it to record everything and then look ahead in the guide and see episodes I already have and I click on the episode in the guide and then select "do not record" .....IT STILL RECORDS IT!!!  That is something that should be fixed.  You should be able to override the settings to record everything if you do so in the individual pop up box per episode in the guide.  Why is that button there  for "Do Not Record" if it has no purpose?  That is my big question and gripe.

Well that's interesting. How the heck do I fix that? I thought the point of ordering the metadata providers was so it would pick from the first one on the list FIRST? Why would it starting pulling from the 2nd one on the list? Here are my settings.

And is this a similar issue? I can't figure out why id doesn't pull in ANY missing episodes for specials.

Yea, that's pretty annoying. Must be some unique logic that needs to be added even though it seems pretty simple from a user perspective.

Well there would have to be failure on first provider or missing metadata in order to pull from second provider.

Removed episode 1 and ensured Missing options were enabled.

@mbarylskiOnly option I can suggest is creating a test library and moving and/or copying this media to this new library to see if you get the same results.

How did you remove episode 1? Maybe I'll just throw a dummy episode 1 in there and see if that works.

Btw, what client are you using? I see that "missing" is red in your screen shot, but I lost red a long time ago in the web and Android app.

First screenshot I had dummy files for 2x01 and 2x02, then deleted 2x01 to show Missing in screen two.  As for color it is custom css in web client.

Thanks. That seemed to work for a little while, but after a refresh metadata 2x01 disappears again. I even locked it and it still went away. How do you make it stay in there without disappearing on each refresh or scan?

Wasn't it red before without custom css? I know it was red in one of the apps. Not sure why the color was removed.

The only way I could fix this was to disable the other metadata providers for episodes. Refresh metadata with ONLY TheTVDB enabled. Then after all the episodes were correctly found, I re-enabled the other metadata providers. I believe @cayars suggested this in another thread.
