jan_axhell 4 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 I have just installed EMBY for AndroidTV on my Philips 32PFS6402/12. The server is on Raspberry Pi 4 attached to a WDElements. I have populated it with Pictuers/Music/Videomusic. They are a lot, hence a lot of cache and stuff. My TV has a tiny internal storage and I would like to move EMBY to an external pendrive. While this is possible for many other apps including KODI, it is not for EMBY. I am not shown the option to move it outside. Any workaround? I could use KODI, but I have tried it with EMBY-nextgen addon + Embuary skin and it is very unstable, it freezes very easily. The only positive aspect is that it stores everything on the pendrive. The OS version on TV is Android 7.1.2 and it is the last and best available, no more updates after 2018/08.
ebr 16184 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Hi. I believe this is controlled by the Android system. Are you able to move other more standard Android TV apps to external storage?
jan_axhell 4 Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 Depends on what's standard. I have moved VLC, MXPlayer Pro, FX, MediaMonkey, Plex and X-Plore to pendrive. I can move most of apps, but not all of them. When it's possible, Playstore installs them directly on external pendrive. But I can't see anything that could show them as a group of certain apps. The only ones that cannot be moved or uninstalled are those that came with TV, like Youtube, Netflix, Prime, etc. I am surprised because KODI and EMBY are quite relatives, so why one can be moved and the other can't?
ebr 16184 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 If you sideload our standard Android app on the device, will it let you move it? 1
jan_axhell 4 Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 What happens to stored data if I remove the current one and sideload the above one?

You don't have to remove the current one to sideload that one but the only important persistent data in the app would be settings you may have changed from defaults.
jan_axhell 4 Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 (edited) Ok, it sideloaded to pendrive, but now I'm confused: I have 2 EMBY apps on TV now. The one installed from Playstore on internal memory = v2.0.48g The sideloaded one = v3.2.32 EDIT This newly installed app seems overall more responsive than the "official" one, so I'm incline to use this one, but what happens when it's time to update? Will Playstore install the right one? Edited December 17, 2021 by jan_axhell
