horfic 0 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 I want to pick up on this issue as i'm facing the same error with an LG TV with the LG emby app. The TV is recognizing the content as Dolby Vision as it shows my the mode on the popup. Stil i got an purple tone to the film, including also all thumbnails. To add to this the movies got issues with sound too, as the sound is cutting out on emby compared by playing the file directly.
Luke 42078 Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 @horfic Hi there, can we please look at an example? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
horfic 0 Posted December 16, 2021 Author Posted December 16, 2021 Hi, I'm having issues with Dolby Vision files on the emby server. When viewing it per any device, the colors are always off, independently of the device. Tried tone mapping option on and off. It also appears that quiet often the sound just stops and gets back and skipping is working most of the time not correctly. The tests with tone mapping on and off are from 2021-12-16 10:02:31 and 2021-12-16 10:03:35. Source is an H.265 dvhe source with planar 4:2:0 yuv 10-bit le decoding. PS: My LG with the emby app is recognizing the dolby vision content as its shows it per popup. can anybody suggest a fix for that? cheers, Horfic emby-log.zip
Luke 42078 Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 HI, are you able to update to Emby Server 4.6.7?

horfic 0 Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 (edited) hi, yes it was, at least the settings told me the change was saved for the second timestamp but ok. here again, only with tone mapping tried at 07:26:25 no change emby-log.zip Edited December 17, 2021 by horfic
softworkz 5066 Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I'm afraid, but there's neither a fix nor a solution for that. There are various flavors (profiles) of Dolby Vision and with Emby, we can only support those with tonemapping which are backward-compatible to HDR10. Whenever you see DVHE, like here: you'll know that Emby cannot handle this in transcoding, only when playing directly.
