Unusable

I've recently switched from Plex to Emby (due to reliability) but I'm finding the Android mobile app unusable on my Google Pixel 6. The layout only seems to like landscape but even then the GUI just drifts around with no real formatting making it unusable.

Using it through the Servers web interface seems to be the only reliable way to access it.

Is it really that bad?

Update.

My fault when I searched for Emby in the play store I must have only initially seen Emby Android TV. Emby for Android seems to work fine.

HI there, can you please describe what you mean by this? What version of the app do you have installed?

I've been having this too on a Pixel 3 that I moved to a few months ago which I kept meaning to report/find a solution for.

Anyways it's hard to describe but I've attached two screenshots, one in portrait and landscape (with auto rotation set on the phone) of an album. I've seen worse but I can't remember how I got to that.

This is 2.0.48g on Android 12 on a Pixel 3.

Well after looking at this a tad more I noticed that I had Emby For Android TV installed and not Emby For Android. I uninstalled Emby For Android TV and Installed Emby For Android and everything is fine. Sorry for the noise.

To be fair Emby for Android TV shouldn't really be available for mobile devices. I'm sure when publishing apps you can specify the criteria. I made the same mistake and so did my Mrs so I can imagine quite a few new Emby users have done the same.
