Display Mode on Android TV?

Hi, I'm using Emby for Android TV on an Nvidia Shield since there isn't any Emby client for my LG WebOS6.  I tried to find a Display Mode option, like I have on e.g. the Desktop Webinterface, but I can't find it. I'd like to have "My Media" using multiple lines, using Desktop Display Mode..

You can sideload the standard android app.

Hi.  The Android TV app was designed specifically for TV use so does not have display mode.

As suggested,  you can side-load the standard Android app on the device.  However, if you put it in anything other than TV display mode, you will likely have trouble navigating with the remote control.

OK, thank you. But then my question  is: why can't we have Desktop Mode when we use Emby for a TV? I'd like My Media to use as many rows it needs to, before then other sections (Continue Watching etc) comes.

Changing it to My Media (small) will wrap the media libraries in ATV.  Other than it would have to be some kind of option added to wrap the larger icons

Well, because a TV isn't a desktop :).  But that isn't really what you want.  You are actually just requesting that My Media take multiple rows.  On a TV where scrolling is much slower than something like a desktop, having to scroll by all of those items and also not be able to see anything else without scrolling would not be good for the majority of people.   Its possible such an option could be provided in the future though.

For now, you can use the other app and see if desktop mode will behave properly for you on the TV.

Yes you can. You'll have hard time to distinguish between them, though, as they still have practically same icons.

Estupendo. Pero no veo la app de Emby para Android en la tienda del Fire Tv. Como hago para instalarla? Muchas gracias...

It's not in the TV apps store yet (though it's coming).  For now, you'll have to sideload the apk from the link below.

Muchas gracias. Una vez instalada e intentando iniciar la aplicación con mi usuario, no se despliega un teclado para introducir mi contraseña. Como lo hago? Muchas gracias...

Oh yes, I forgot Fire TV does that. Set "Don't require a password on the local network" in User settings, so you'll need no keyboard to login.

Muchas gracias. Ya la he instalado pero observo que en Android TV la definición de la imagen es mucho mejor que con la app de Android. En Android TV tengo establecido la tasa de refresco y la coincidencia de resolución activadas. Tengo que hacer algo en la app de Emby para Android? Muchas gracias...

"Image" as in artwork (posters, thumbs...) or picture quality (during media playback)? If latter, check your app Playback settings quality, if set on "Auto" change to some fixed numeric value higher than the bitrate of the item you're trying to play.

You can "Enable display refresh rate switching" in standard Android app Settings>Playback if you feel it'll make any difference.
