I purchased Emby for Android TV. Will this purchase work on FireTV?

I purchased the Emby app for Android TV. This worked fine. Is there a way to unlock the Emby app on FireTV using aforementioned purchase?

The original purchase: “Unlock Emby for Android TV (Emby for Android TV) (by Emby Media)”

On FireTV, selecting “Restore Unlock” does not work, presumably because it was originally purchased on Google’s app store, not Amazon’s app store.

I thought in both cases it’s essentially the exact same app. Certainly looks like it at first glance. Is there a way to avoid paying for it twice?

If I reinstall the app on FireTV by sideloading the Android TV app, work the unlock work?

Nope. Diffrent store.

Premiere will work for all apps, unlocks are attached to your account in the different stores.

Hi.  This is correct.  The unlocks are sold as in app purchases and each store (Amazon, Google) has their own (they require a large piece of the pie).

Thanks. Out of curiosity, what is the reason for the unlock not working when side loading your Android TV app? Is the Android TV app not available to download, does the Android TV app not work on Fire TV, or does the manual installation of your Android TV app not check for purchases?

If it's anything like Apple's app store, an app talks to the developer's website, not direct with the app store. So assuming Google implemented in-app purchases the same way, I'd expect an outside chance of this working (or at least i would have before receiving these replies).

Anything purchased through the store gets validated through the app store, so with the play store not being on your amazon device, that's why it doesn't work there. Emby Premiere of course also validates with our own servers as well.
