StRaSiFtAk 0 Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Hi, My provider is blocking port forwarding so I must use ngrok to stream my local emby server to WAN and I have problem with Emby connect. The problem is that Public (WAN) address in Dashboard is by default e.g. https://1234-567-89-1-23.eu.ngrok.io:8096 But I need this address without port because ngrok address is automatically forwarded to emby port 8096 so I need address which look like this: https://1234-567-89-1-23.eu.ngrok.io The problem is when I tried to connect wit Emby connect to my server I always get error because of the port at the end of the address. When I add custom server I fulfil address https://1234-567-89-1-23.eu.ngrok.io and leave port empty and I connect to server without problem. Could you please help me with this?
GrimReaper 4742 Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) Not familiar with that service, but have you tried configuring your Emby server to listen on port 443 (default https port), as that would make connecting to https://1234-567-89-1-23.eu.ngrok.io and https://1234-567-89-1-23.eu.ngrok.io:443 same? rbjtech 5284 Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 If ngrok can do PAT (Port Address Translation) - then simply use PAT, there is no need to change emby to listen on TCP 443. ie TCP 443 > TCP 8920 To note - If emby is listing the https port as 8096 (which is the default HTTP listener port) - then I suggest you check your config as it should be 8920.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 The free service isn't going to work for Emby as the URL and ports change according to their website and they have limitations on all their plans for usage so it doesn't seem like the viable way to do this other than limited use or just playing around with it. A much better method would be getting a cheap VPS or VM service and setting up your own tunnel which is easy to do and there are a lot of guides online to do this.
Spegeli 18 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 I have nearly the same "issue". When i enter my custom domain "xyz.mydomain.com" under network settings the dashboard is always showing the Domain with Port. But because i use a nginx proxy i dont need the Port in the Adress because my nginx Forwards to automatik to the http Port. So in my Case its only a optical think but i would love to only See the Adress without https Port. Any solutions? P. S. Conndction is working perfect, I only want to See only the Domain without the Port in the dashboard @cayars
Carlo 4561 Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 The dashboard will always show it with a port so there is no miscommunication on it. But in a web browser if the port is 80 you don't need it if using http and same with 443 when using https as those are the standard ports. But those are web standards not applications as they don't use normally use html markup language. Ironically the web is likely less than 5% html these days as everything is scripts and other stuff which would be even worse for devices.
RanmaCanada 496 Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 I take it either you are using their equipment, or your ISP are a$$holes and doing a Carrier-Grade NAT? If you haven't replaced your ISP's equipment in your house, I strongly suggest you do so. If you have and your ports are still being blocked, I would contact your ISP and have them open them up for you.

Ladiesman0217 14 Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Bumping this topic because it was never resolved in the thread and I have the same issue. I am using Nginx Proxy Manager to handle port redirecting and SSL cert management. I have it configured to host my site at https://mysite.com/emby with no port in the URL. This works great for users that use that URL directly... but in Emby Connect, the users get my WAN address which is configured as https://mysite.com/emby:443 which results in an error. Is there no way at all to set my WAN address to match how I have it configured in my reverse proxy manager? Thanks!
Ladiesman0217 14 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 @Spegelidid you ever figure out how to do this? Thanks.

Ladiesman0217 14 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Hi Luke, It's currently showing to https://mysite.com:8920/ but I tried different configurations as described in my post above. Nothing I found would allow me to set the WAN address without a port at the end.

Its still show Fernzugriff (WAN): https://myvideo.XXXXX.xyz:443 Dont know if its maybe a option to add something like "If under Netzwork the Secure Mode is set to Reverse Proxy, Hide the Port in the Overview". Or make a Extra Option to Hide the WAN Port in the Overview.

Seems they added something in "Version 4.8.0.49 beta". Port is no longer showen for the WAN Address 1
