I'm sorry to bring up this older thread but i'm having the same issue on Synology since around the time reported here.

What is the current situation on this? Does it still make sense to create a new Movie library for testing purposes? Do i need to edit xml files? Where do i find these files exactly and how would i edit them on a Synology NAS?

Best regards,

Burrito78

Hi there @Burrito78 please go over an example and attach the corresponding emby server log:

Thanks !

Hi @Luke, thanks for helping me! See information below.

I imported the movie "/Filme/Bloodsport (1988)/kult-bloodsport.avc.mkv", did a library scan and then exported embyserver.txt.

Hmm Luke will have to comment more as it should have queried the folder name not the file name.

file:"/volumeUSB2/usbshare/Filme/Bloodsport (1988)/kult-bloodsport.avc.mkv"

Are all of your movies in their own folders in /Filme?

Yes, always in their own folder but this "Movies" library consists of 3 different folders on different shares/drives but that should make no difference.

Every movie is in a folder "ENGLISH-MOVIENAME (YEAR)".

What are the contents of the

Bloodsport (1988) folder?
Posted (edited)

@Luke Only the movie file and a "Subs" folder:

These files are inside the "Subs" folder:

What are the complete contents of the folder?

@Luke I will post a different screenshot with folder contents below. This is after the library scan after adding the movie.

@Luke Do you need any more info from me regarding the issue?

If you use the image editor to download a new poster, where does it get saved to?

Posted (edited)

Just to clarify, the only problem i face is that automatic identification based on folder name isn't working. Instead identification seems to be always based on filename.

I tested to change the poster through image editor on the unidentified Bloodsport and the result is seen below as expected. The poster.jpg is my custom poster:

Not sure what is going on but recreating your item naming and content structure, mine searched folder name not file name.

Debug App: Running MovieDbProvider for C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos\Movies - nfo\Bloodsport (1988)\kult-bloodsport.avc.mkv

Maybe it's because i'm on Synology NAS and the problem only happens there?

This is the original topic about the issue i'm seeing:

Not sure why my post created a new thread, but it did.

As a test, if you setup a new movie library pointing to some other test folder, does the same thing happen there?

Created a new movie library "Test" with a new folder "Test" and copied clean (no NFO, no pics) Bloodsport over. Got detected without a hitch. Also logfile shows correct search term "Bloodsport (1988)".

Yes we have had these results in the past.  But don't believe we ever found the underlying issue.

I deleted my movies library and created it again with the same settings and movie identification is working again.

Thankfully doing this step had no side effects, as i had nfo's for metadata and .jpg for posters in every movie folder and therefore everything appears as before and no further work is needed.

Sorry i couldn't help to find the source of the problem.
