zisterzienser 3 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 (edited) Hallo, I currently have the problem that some older FireTV devices cannot load information and thus cannot start streams. I was able to understand the problem between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. today. Does anyone know the problem or has a similar experience? embyserver.txt Edited December 5, 2021 by zisterzienser
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 6, 2021 Author Posted December 6, 2021 if you want to see details of a films or series, then the Emby client hangs when loading or crashed. the same thing happens if you try to start the streams directly. I could only reproduce the problem with older FireTV devices running on Fire OS 5 (FireTV 1.Gen, FireTVStick 2.Gen). I would say the problem has existed since the update to Emby Server 4.6.7. The FireTV-Devices each have the latest OS and the latest EMBY client app
ebr 16184 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Can you please reproduce that issue and then follow the instructions to send a log from the app?
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) I reproduced the error and sent a report from the affected client. The User on my Emby-Server was Clemens and send the report today at 09:07 p.m. Edited December 8, 2021 by zisterzienser
ebr 16184 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Hi. These items load and play fine from the web app?
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 Yes all items Play fine from web and Others devices. I dont think its a file problem. I cant start any file from older firetv devices.
ebr 16184 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 But you have other Android TV or Fire devices that don't have this issue? Can anyone else reproduce this?
ebr 16184 Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 What is different about the settings on the devices that work vs. the ones that don't?
Luke 42078 Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Also can you try side loading our standard Android app on the same device and let us know how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks !
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 11, 2021 Author Posted December 11, 2021 apart from the OS there are no differences. The Fire devices were not rooted, etc. But I will test sideloading. I tested it today with another old FireTV of the first generation (OS 5.X). Everything went normally with this device. If the sideloading does not work, I will completely reset the affected devices. If that doesn't work, then it just has to be new devices ^^ They are not that expensive. By the way, can I donate something to you too? I bought Emby Prem years ago, but I think it's time to give something for support & updates again.

That is what I was referring to. 1 hour ago, zisterzienser said: I tested it today with another old FireTV of the first generation (OS 5.X). Everything went normally with this device. This strongly suggests that the issue is somehow related to a setting of some sort. Discovering that would help track it down. Can you please send a log from the app from this device that worked okay? Thanks.
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) Hey Guys, I send Logs today from fireTV 1.Gen with the Error. Same Error.... 12.36 - Check emby Setting and disable and/or disable/enable some settings. Same Error. I will send a Log from the device (Firetv OS 5) working tomorrow. Have a nice sunday Edited December 13, 2021 by zisterzienser
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Hello, i re-sent logs from the working fTV(1. Gen / OS5) today. at 12:32 from User Spielbergs Stube -> Device is connect from local network and Stream is working at 12:38 from User Spielberg Stube -> Device is connect from remote-connection and Stream is working I have compared the settings of both the device and the app and cannot find any differences. I will now reset the affected fTV OS5 devices and try again.
ebr 16184 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Thanks for the logs. They are different devices. The one without the problem is a first gen Fire TV. The one with the problem is a second gen Fire TV (from the following year). There are also some differences in settings. The one that doesn't have the problem has the "Pre playback media selections" turned on. Additionally, there are different users logged into the different devices which means they could be seeing different data and options from the server. First, on the affected device, try turning on the option to show pre-playback media selection and see if it changes. If not, try logging into that device with the same user as the other one.
ebr 16184 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Hopefully, changing one of those options will help you work around the issue for now. The next beta should solve it for you without any option changes. Thanks for the report.
ebr 16184 Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 The latest beta should solve this issue for you. Thanks.
zisterzienser 3 Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Hey thanks, i will test the settings on Weekend and thank you very much for your help. Can I donate a little something to you developers? If the different settings work, i will wait for stable release. Edited December 15, 2021 by zisterzienser
