Any possibility of a way to change keymaps so that i can use the subtitle button on my TV remote to trigger subs on Emby for Android TV?

Hi.  It is very unlikely that button is ever passed to the Android system.  It is probably just acted upon by the TV.  Also, since Emby supports multiple subtitle streams, there is no binary toggle.

I think it probably does - all buttons on the remote with the exception of play, pause, next, previous, etc, volume and channels cause the Emby menu to popup. 

 

It also works on Kodi's kepmap editor plugin: 

When I press the specific button the editor there shows the specific key being pressed

 

Even if it's not the specific button, is it not possible to have any button that selects the next available subtitle or switches the default language on and off?

Its potentially possible but there just aren't very many devices that have buttons to do things like this and there is some ambiguity in what should actually happen when such a button is pressed.  If you rip media from disc you could have 10 or 12 subtitle streams.

The fact that so few people would be able to take advantage of such a button makes spending the time to figure out the rest a not very good use of time right now.  Thanks.
