Maikana 0 Posted December 3, 2021 Posted December 3, 2021 I have been running emby since mediabrowser days working just fine and around about 2 weeks ago my server stopped transcoding, I can direct play any media but not transcode. I thought it was an issue with my LG TV app originally but it just turns out that my roku TV can direct play subbed files while my LG can't it seems. I made network changes a week or two before I noticed the issue as well, I am unsure of the timing as I may or may not have watched something that required transcoding between changes and noticing the issues. Are there any port differences or reasons that direct play would work but transcoding wouldn't from a network perspective? Old build was Firewall > Server > Wifi Router New Build is New Linux Firewall > L2 Switch > Server > Wifi so everything is still within the same subnet and passing through the same wifi AP as before, though the linux firewall is a bit strict. attached is a transcode that failed at the TV side. ffmpeg-transcode-01563332-686c-4590-81c3-b2679cffa80b_1.txt

Maikana 0 Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 Here is the embyserver log as well for a separate event, this one streamed via browser, same result of stream failing to start. embyserver.txt
Luke 42085 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Hi @Maikana as a test, if you turn off the subtitles prior to playback, does that help?
Maikana 0 Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 It does yes, it shows as direct playing both via app and browser though so I discounted it as transcoding being the fault.

Ok that's good to know. Are you able to reproduce this with all files that transcode, or only certain ones?
Maikana 0 Posted December 10, 2021 Author Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) All files I've attempted so far, my lg tv doesn't like to direct play subs so I've tested with anything from always transcoded anime to FHD and UHD content with subs enabled. As well as playing content verified to work in direct play from a browser to force transcode without subs. Edited December 10, 2021 by Maikana
Luke 42085 Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 @Maikana have you tried the latest update to the Emby LG app? Has that helped?
