tda0626 0 Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 For the longest time, it has worked fine but here recently it will not load Emby on a reboot/log off until the account is logged in. Tried the steps again here and it still won't work, https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159984-running-emby-server-as-a-windows-service. Was there a Windows update that doesn't play well with the way NSSM makes the service? Tim
Luke 42086 Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Hi, when the user logs in, is there an Emby icon in the system tray?
tda0626 0 Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 No sir, I have to manually start Emby. However, if I go to Task Manager and view the services before manual start, the service is indeed running and listed.
Luke 42086 Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 HI, I'm not sure. This is the first I've heard of it. Perhaps try removing the service altogether and then setting it back up again?

So the service has started as expected; why do you think that it is not working at that point? When you start Emby manually, are you starting the service (again?) or simply running a copy of it by double-clicking, or from a command line - either opf which which will create a separate instantiation? If you have a separate copy running, the question arises of what ports each is using. Luke's suggestion to start again may well be the easier move at this point. Paul
tda0626 0 Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 The service shows started but when I try to access over wifi or remotely, the server does not respond. Only after I double click the executable does it work. Sometimes my kids log me off my account by accident and when this happens I can't access the server so the service isn't working as intended. I have tried setting up the service again but I get the same results. This started happening about a month or so ago.
Luke 42086 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 OK, unless you see something obvious in windows event viewer that can be corrected, i would try what i suggested and let us know if that helps. thanks.
