Mbedford 7 Posted March 24, 2025 Author Posted March 24, 2025 Hi Luke, I just installed the latest version from the windows store, same issue, clock is 24hr, even though system clock is 12hr. See screen shot please. I have never tried this windows store version before, I cannot find any way to make it full screen like you can with emby theater. It always shows the window top bar with the minimise, maximise and the X buttons, and it also shows the start bar on the bottom. Emby theater doesn't do this which is much better for full screen living room TV setup. If you cant do this I'll stick to using Emby theater. Also can you disable the long intro animation? Thanks for your help.

Short answer is no, you can read all about the long answer from the FAQ (bottom of the list) https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/134677-new-windows-xbox-app-faq/
Mbedford 7 Posted March 24, 2025 Author Posted March 24, 2025 double clicking in that area works thanks. Why it looks different, just customised the background, thats all.

Mine has different buttons to yours, which includes a dedicated "full screen" button. Hence, I ask the question... 1 hour ago, seanbuff said: Which version of the Windows app is that?
Dickydodah! 154 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 @LukeMy server is on Windows 11 and I've checked all settings for the time and date and everything is set to 12hr i.e. "h" not "HH". I'm personally not bothered with the time setting as I've used the 24hr clock at work for nearly 50 years but it would be nice to find the issue. I do think that the problem probably lies with Windows as I've had similar issues with other programs. Is there a simple way to manually use the API to see what is being returned? I'm using the USB install of the Samsung app and the latest version 2.0.1 and as far as I can remember it has always shown 24hr. I will open another thread in the Samsung topic so that this thread stays on track. I have an old version of the Windows app installed (3.0.20) and that does seem to show the 12hr clock but I will confirm once it's past 13:00. I've just installed the latest Windows app (2.219.2.0) and it doesn't even have a clock?? Mine looks the same as @seanbuff The screenshot from @Mbedfordis the same as the old version so I think there is a couple of issues here. The windows locale is set wrong hence why the old version shows 24hr and it is the old version of Emby Theatre as the latest version doesn't seem to show a clock except as a finish time when you are playing a file. I can confirm later if that shows the correct format.
Dickydodah! 154 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 @MbedfordCan you recheck all the time settings in Windows, they very helpfully hide all the settings in the old control panel which you can get to by using Windows key/run and typing control panel. Below are the settings on my PC. In the region settings you may want to click on the Administrative tab and copy settings to the welcome screen, system accounts and new users.

Did you switch the display mode to TV?
Dickydodah! 154 Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 That was the bit I forgot when switched to TV mode the clock comes up but it is 24hr and it seems that I mislead you as the old version also shows as 24hr now it's past 13:00. What is the API call to get the system time as that may shed some more light on the issue, as you can see from the screenshots I have all the windows settings correct.
Mbedford 7 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 Here are my time and region settings. My emby windows is set to TV mode.
seanbuff 1315 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 @Mbedfordsince you have still not responded, I will ask the question again for the third time ... Which version of the Emby Windows app are you currently running?
Mbedford 7 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 Sorry, its Emby Windows 2.219.2.0 I just installed it for the first time from the Windows store yesterday as Luke asked. I've always been using Emby Theater for years before that. 1

Mbedford 7 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 Yes changing it to the English(United States) worked for both Emby Windows (left) and Emby Theater (right). So I guess this is a Windows bug with the Windows display language for English (Australia) not sending the correct time format of 12hrs to Apps like Emby? BTW is it true Emby Theater will be retired in 2025, and when?
Dickydodah! 154 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 This works for me as well but I doubt that it is a Windows bug as I'm sure that an issue like that would have gone unnoticed by the rather large user base they have compared to Emby. I don't know exactly how the app gets the time but "echo %date% %time% & tzutil /g" in a command prompt in Windows gives the current time but as it's 9:51am here I can't be sure what format it currently is in. C:\Users\richa>echo %date% %time% & tzutil /g 25/03/25 9:51:57.43 GMT Standard Time 1

Just chiming in to say WOW this is so unintuitive. I have no "full screen" button either so I had to come here looking for help on how to get mine back into full screen mode. I'm guessing it doesn't show for me because mine is in TV mode. If that's why, please do something better such as showing one on the title bar or when moving the mouse around. 1
