Steverido 6 Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Hey Guys, I am experiencing something really strange. My setup is Emby server on a Windows 10 PC solely used as a server. I am watching Emby Theater through my Amazon TV. For a few weeks now my server PC has shutdown only when I am using Emby. This can be the Amazon TV or the Android app on mine and my partners tablets. I thought perhaps my PSU was starting to fail and ordered another one yesterday. The PC has been running fine all day and about 10 minutes into watching TV on Emby the server PC has shutdown again. Rebooted and it crashed after a minute. Attached files but not sure that they will help. I have who crashed my PC software running but that does not record anything. Windows logs just staete unexpected shutdown. Wondering if the Emby server has got corrupted. ffmpeg-transcode-d0cf35e4-e50c-435f-abfe-fb6f502f33f0_1.txt hardware_detection-63773810591.txt embyserver.txt
Ronstang 294 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 How much load does your server see when you are watching a movie? I had a similar problem last year and I kept looking for what applications could be causing it to reboot for no reason.....turned out to be overheating. Have you checked your temperatures lately? Could be something as simple as time for new thermal grease. I myself needed a better fan for what I was expecting my machine to do in the small case it is in.
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 This is also using AMD amf hardware acceleration. I would turn off the hardware acceleration for the time being and try again - if no crashes, then you know it's related to the AMD GPU. If it is, try the latest AMD drivers.

I have a 1 KW PC Power & Cooling PSU in here. Can't get any better. Temeperature is not an issue either. I have a hardware fan controller with 120mm fans at the top, front and side. CPU has liquid cooled radiators with fans. I can try thermal paste for belt and braces. But testing mentioned below would have caused it to crash. I have tested the PC with Finalwire AIDA64 for hours and the PC is rock solid. It was a recent install of Windows 10. Hardly any other apps installed because it is a server for emby stuff and files for other storage. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago. Sometimes it will run without a hitch.

I can switch that off and see what happens.
Steverido 6 Posted November 30, 2021 Author Posted November 30, 2021 Ended up trying the above and my PC was still shutting down. I have uninstalled Emby Server and reinstalled. I will keep testing to see if it has resolved. Another issue now is that my iPad Emby keeps popping up Emby Premiere subscription when I try and play something. I have saved my code in the server dashboard and it states successful authentification. Not sure how to vercome this as it has never occurred before.

Make sure the iPad has access to the internet to validate.

I tried to access on the Amazon TV and that is requesting authorisation too. iPad and Amazon TV has internet access. Edited November 30, 2021 by Steverido
