westb182 1 Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 I'm using the emby for fire tv app, and watching remotely takes a very long time to buffer and load. I just timed one episode to load and it took 1min55sec. Meanwhile, when I use an external player, it loads almost instantly. On my phone, there are no issues. It seems that it is only using the emby fire tv app. log westb182 uploaded 11:53am central time
Luke 42078 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Hi there, can you please also attach the emby server log from the same time frame? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/790-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks !
ebr 16184 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Hi. Also the ffmpeg log that was generated. Thanks.
ebr 16184 Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Hi. I don't see any delay in your ffmpeg log and I could not see the start of playback in your app log unfortunately. Not sure it will make a difference but you should upgrade your server to 4.6.7.

I'll try that (assuming it was pushed to dockr) and I'll report back.
mattykellyuk 18 Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 My users are having this problem too but hard for me to get a log as they don't always tell me. I'll try and add here if I can catch it.

I cannot find anything that looks like a delay on our side. The playback request came in at 30min 15sec past the hour and ffmpeg started delivering content at 30:17. I notice cloudflare is involved. Can you remove that for a test?
westb182 1 Posted December 7, 2021 Author Posted December 7, 2021 Sorry for the late update, but I finally had some time to troubleshoot it. I updated the server but that didn't work. I turned off proxy on cloudflare and that seemed to be the issue. So I went ahead on cloudflare made a subdomain that didn't proxy, used that for the fire tv remotely and now it seems to work.

This is likely caused by settings in Cloudflare that aren't idea for use with Emby. Both Pir8radio and I have posted working Cloudflare configuration and I help a lot of people get setup on Cloudflare as well. So the settings we both use seem to work really well. Did you follow a guide when you configured Cloudflare?

Domain name on cloudflare with cloudflare proxy option that points to my synology which has the subdomains under the reverse proxy option to point to the right ports
Carlo 4561 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Yea that's probably why. Synology uses an older version of nginx proxy and you don't have access to make the adjustments needed with their version (even if you do it gets over written). You need to bypass the Synology proxy or change it which is what I did. It no longer listens on ports 80 or 443 on my system but but instead use 81 & 444. You can then use your own proxy with the needed adjustments or just setup Emby Server direct without the local proxy. The guide I mentioned earlier would probably be ideal as it's specific for Cloudflare and NGINX and basically gives you ever setting for both. I've been getting requests to do a similar guide for Traefik proxy setup as well as Cloudflare and Traefix proxy together. Traefix proxy seems to be gaining a lot of popularity but has a bit of a learning curve.
Carlo 4561 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Check your Cloudflare settings page by page against the settings here: We use almost identical settings except for our rules. If you have the 3 rules available I would use these in this order. Ordering of rules is very important. YourDomain.Ext/*video/*/* Cache Level: Bypass YourDomain.Ext/*/ Cache Level: Cache Everything, Edge Cache TTL: a month YourDomain.Ext/* Edge Cache TTL: a month I'd suggest taking a look at this thread for NGINX which goes over a settings known to work well both with and without Cloudflare.

Sorry for the long delay, but I just had some time to get around to trying out the cloudflare settings. I'll test it out over the next month or so and see how it does, though the simple CF non-proxy link works just fine (and since it's private anyways, I dont really see a big advantage to using the CF proxy for Emby) 1

I'd suggest following through the installation so you actually get real use from Cloudflare.
