Chiefmas 40 Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 I seem to have lost my horizontal scroll buttons (the ones that let you look through latest movies, the seasons list in shows with lots of seasons etc), but it's only happening with Brave and Edge. They are present and working under Firefox. I'm not sure what's going on- I have disabled the blockers and such on my server URL. I'm assuming I must have done something, but I don't know what, especially since it's not happening in FF, so it doesn't seem like it's tied to the account. Any ideas on how to get the scroll buttons back? Thanks!
Luke 42083 Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 Hi there, can you please show a screenshot? Thanks.
Chiefmas 40 Posted November 25, 2021 Author Posted November 25, 2021 Sure...two screenshots. I've put my cursor(visible in both shots as the hand) off to the right edge. The top shot with out the overlay to scroll right is Brave. The same thing happens in Edge. The other shot is in Firefox. This happens anywhere that there used to be a scroll, which is particularly problematic on a show with many seasons, as I can't really access later seasons(The Simpsons, for example). They used to be there, so I'm not quite sure what happened, if it was a browser change or something I did.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 Interesting as it works for me in Brave, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox in my tests. Are there and console errors in the browser?
Luke 42083 Posted November 25, 2021 Posted November 25, 2021 What versions of each browser? Do you have a touch input device connected?

Whatever is current, though it's done it for a while. The touch input...that's an interesting question, I actually do, that hadn't occurred to me at all that might change the behavior! I replaced my desktop with a laptop recently, but I use the laptop as a secondary monitor. And so of course I can scroll with touch, if I move the browser Window there. So that behavior now makes much more sense- so the logical follow up question can I override that behavior without fully disabling touch input?

Looks like there are options in the browser flags but do not know the full extent. The browser will tell us which input method is considered the primary input method between touch input or a pointing device (mouse). Based on that there are several aspects of the Emby web app UI that will automatically adjust.
visproduction 316 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Try resizing the browser slightly and see if the scroll button appears again. I reported this in an earlier post.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Hi, also do a quick check to see if you might have zoomed in on the page without knowing it. In Chromium browsers you can check this quickly by clicking the 3 dot menu top right and zoom should be on that menu.

It seems pretty likely that because a touch interface is reported, it's just globally using the touch interface settings. It would be nice to have a manual override here. Honestly, even if I was just using my laptop on it's own, I think I'd still rather use the mouse to scroll then the touch screen.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Sorry, don't remember if this was covered above or not but did you check out app settings (person icon top right) then Display->Display mode: You could try manually changing the mode to see if that helps or not.
visproduction 316 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 (edited) Try opening Browser inspect, search (Ctrl F) for scrollbuttoncontainer. Under styles tab, you can unclick display:none; for .scrollbuttoncontainer. That will turn on the right scroll button. Just hovering over the div class listing in the left side of the inspect window will make the scroll button highlight in your browser. That is the easiest way to check where it is. If you still cannot find it, then add border:1px solid red; to the style to spot where it is. Hopefully, it is in the right place and the problem is something else. There are several custom css changes that can cause this div to move, as a side effect. Sometimes, it's possible to push it right off the right edge of the browser. If you have done some css style changes, that might be the problem. If you have not done any updates in the 'Set your own CSS' in Settings, then, this would probably not be the issue. Still, it's nice to find out if the button div is in the right place. Clicking on the right Chevron button is what causes the scroll, so that could also be styled to the wrong margin or location, possibly off the browser to the right. That div is .paper-icon-button-light, further down the HTML. If that is missing, try adjusting the styles to see where the problem might be. Edited November 30, 2021 by visproduction

Not quite the same issue, as I have it happen under all chromium based browsers I tested(Chrome, Edge, Brave), and we did track it down to being related to touch-based interfaces being activated with those. 1
