Starting to see movies with Chinese titles?

Normally I would get them in English but sometimes Emby writes titles in orig. title?

Have those items come with an NFO? Or do you have any other program writing NFOs in your media folders?

I think its pretty basic for the Metadata fetchers and I ONLY use Emby to collect and update my metadata and artwork

The folders are saved from Radarr with the correct English folder name, then Emby creates the NFO file and for some reason select the Org. titel

The NFO file is showing the title just as you show it there.

Is it possible the titles are embedded into the file itself as tags?

But the OP has "Prefer embedded titles" option disabled, as per screenshot. 

And the Collection name in NFO is also Japanese(?), that one surely wouldn't be embedded?

There shouldn't be but do the items show preferred language?  Bottom of item metadata as what you have shown so far is not Library Danish-Denmark.

I don't' think this is the problem due to the nfo not containing a custom language. At this point my guess would be that when he originally downloaded the file, it also came with an nfo containing the Chinese title, and Emby read and used that information, and then rewrote the nfo with more info.

Is Country used?

But server log showing the query will provide more information.

After looking more <countrycode> is the field was thinking of.  It is is used for Preferred Country not the Country field.

So since there are no <language> or <countrycode> tags in the item metadata there in no customization from Library settings.

So technically a refresh of a item should correct the issue.

The preferred country won't impact metadata language, but it will impact the ratings system as that is country based.

Sorry? That was related to <country> NFO tag, not Country in library settings. 

Edit: As per Kodi wiki, that tag should denote 'Country of Origin"; If we're writing preferred country there - that's erroneous.

So far I did a refresh meta data and replace files...

If I delete the NFO file and do a refresh Emby recreates the NFO with the funny Chinese+English title?

I have not set any country, just Danish (Since I try to get description in danish to the NFO if available)

<Pedant>  It's not Chinese being displayed, but Japanese... </pedant>

Those movies are identified perfectly in English for me using TMDB (BTW, they're harder to find manually in IMBD, as they call the new films Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter pt I/II).  The only difference is that I don't have the extraneous stuff after the date in the name.  I didn't even need the folder name to match (all my Rurouni Kenshin films are in one folder called "Rurouni Kenshin" for some reason...)

Actually moving out then back in will not work unless you delete the nfo files as it will be read again.

Identify will not work either in my tests (something with selected language).

But testing this I get the same results

Don't see anything that stands out in api data.  Look like "original_title" is written to both files.

Import with no language field returned English, Setting Preferred Language to Danish returned Japanese title.

Sorry just noticed I posted there wrong api call for Danish, so this is actually a TMDB issue.  So I don't think there is anything @Lukecan do.

OP can change preferred language to English, refresh those movies and afterwards lock them, then revert to Danish. Repeat procedure upon every occurence until (and if) TMDB sorts it out, how knows if anyone opened ticket.
