Philippe007 0 Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Hello, I have Emby Theater 1.0.24 on my LG TV. My LG TV details: webOS TV OLED55C6V, software release 05.60.15. When I'm playing a photo diaporama, based on the TV screensaver setup, my TV enters screensaver mode. It is like it doesn't detects that Emby is running. I don't have this issue with Netflix app. I've crawl and search that topic, I found no report of the same issue. Parameters in Emny app are few and I found nothing related with screensaver. Thank you for any support.
SamES 1102 Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 Is the slideshow playing from the Emby app on the TV, or is this slideshow using the built in LG photo app on the TV playing photos from the server?

SamES 1102 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 I've had another look and they don't provide anyway for us to disable the screen saver. I've seen this mentioned as an issue in a few LG forums for various apps. I did read that in some models a firmware update allowed users to disable the screen saver from within the TV settings, so that might be possible for you. Just check in the TV settings. I presume that when you are play a movie/TV show through the app the screen saver does not come on. Is that correct?
Dullard 15 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Maybe this is new, but i found this on their website: https://webostv.developer.lge.com/develop/guides/screensaver It seems to me, we need the type three screensaver setting. Mom is always complaining that the LG screensaver comes on while playing music and that she cant see the pretty emby scrren. 1

It's been around a little while but it didn't exist when the current screensaver handling was implemented. For the music player we would have to implement the Type 3 Screensaver which is probably better than the current approach. I'm not sure whether everyone would want this though as there are still a lot of static screen components which might concern some people.
SamES 1102 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago After reading this a few times, I don't think we can use it. It is an app-based policy so we can't change beteen different screensaver types depending on whether it is music or video playback. Whatever type we pick, we have to live with for all app functions, not just music playback. Noting also that we can't use the Type 3 screensaver as parts of the screen will start dimming even while playing back video: Quote If video is being played in full screen, the screensaver does not appear. But the brightness of the entire area decreases gradually for 30 minutes and stays at that level. and Quote Even if any user action is detected while the brightness is decreasing, the brightness does not turn back to the initial state and the timeout count continues. Type 2 would be better as it won't dim video elements, but OSD and other elements will dim progressively for 30 minutes until the screensaver starts. I'm not exactly sure how it identifies OSD elements, but I'm pretty sure that this also means that even when the Home screen or library lists are being displayed, the screensaver won't start for 30 minutes (although the screen will still dim over this period). I think there will be many users that won't be happy with the screen staying active for 30 minutes without the screensaver starting. Considering all of this, I don't think we can make use of this, and we also risk app submission issues if LG don't agree with our approach. BTW, I think I'm having a dejavu moment as I think I looked at this same feature a long time ago and came to the same conclusion.
