gbcox 13 Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I tried searching on this but became quickly confused - apparently it had been done one way in the past, then that was changed, etc. I'm looking to migrate from PleX and am testing things out before I make the leap. One thing I need is the ability to add actors/cast/director photos that aren't available on the normal websites used by PleX (and I'm also assuming emby). So over the years I have manually downloaded hundreds of photos. To get this to work on PleX, I've been using this tool: https://github.com/gboudreau/XBMCnfoMoviesImporter.bundle which requires the manual creation of a movie.nfo file. In a preliminary test, I was happy to discover that emby automatically read the movie.nfo file, and populated everything perfectly. The one thing that was missing though was the actor/cast photos. The bundle above works by allowing you to setup a directory in your local web browser, specifically here: /var/www/html/actors You then tell the plugin the location of the directory, and then when the metadata is processed by PleX, the photos are found by matching the information in the movie.nfo file. My question, how can something like this be accomplished with emby? I want to have a centralized location for all photos, and have the matching done using the movie.nfo file. Thanks very much!

There is, all people images are stored in install-dir\programdata\metadata\people. Quirk is, each person has to have it's own "name only" folder or "name-id" folder, depending on does it have associated TMDB/IMDB ID or not. Once NFO is read and actor parsed, it would be linked to respective folder and image within used.
gbcox 13 Posted November 19, 2021 Author Posted November 19, 2021 Thanks for the quick response. So currently, I have the image: /var/www/html/actors/John_Doe.jpg When it goes through nfo processing, the movie.nfo file then has: <actor> <name>John Doe</name> <role>John Doe</role> </actor> So, what your saying I need to create the following directory: ../programdata/metadata/people/"John Doe-id" for no IMDB and ../programdata/metadata/people/"John Doe" if IMDB exists? Then in the directory place the John_Doe.jpg file? What happens if I screw up and IMDB does happen to exist? (Doubtful, but who knows).

Opposite, you would create for example "John Doe-tmdb-xxxxx" if TMDB ID exists and "John Doe" if no ID. 7 minutes ago, gbcox said: Then in the directory place the John_Doe.jpg file Nope, it needs to be called folder.jpg. 7 minutes ago, gbcox said: What happens if I screw up and IMDB does happen to exist? Nothing, it doesn't get matched. Edited November 19, 2021 by GrimReaper Typo
gbcox 13 Posted November 19, 2021 Author Posted November 19, 2021 Thanks much! Got it working, now I need to go get higher res images since the emby's are larger than plex. Very nice! 1
