How to check if Optional Paths are being hit

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi,

I have configured an optional path in my libraries (eg \\server\folder) which should grant access to guests for read only.
What's the best way of making sure the paths works correctly and is being used by apps on my network?

I tried the logs but couldn't find anything conclusive.

Thanks

What do you mean by that? You don't control access that way, you do it through User setting, either by folder-based access, PG or tags. As is where you grant or revoke any Admin privileges for the users.

Only certain clients will use the optional path - namely the Shield (if setup to do so) or the Windows Theatre Clients.

There are two ways to verify - one is to look for the stream type to be FILE in stats for nerds, the other is to simply look on the host server OS and see if the file is being directly accessed.
