KenHe 10 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Hello, I have read-only access to share drives and WebDav folders. Is it possible to filter certain words from filename before running scraper so I don't need to manually refresh metadata for each file? Thanks
Luke 42086 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
KenHe 10 Posted November 18, 2021 Author Posted November 18, 2021 (edited) Hello Luke, here is an example. Original filename is 'junk.com@avatar.mkv', is there a way to have Emby filter out 'junk.com@' and scrape metadata for 'avatar.mkv' only? I can do it manually, but the shared drives have thousands of files. Thanks Edited November 18, 2021 by KenHe
Luke 42086 Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Ok there is currently no way but yes that is messy.
Ronstang 294 Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 @KenHe Is there a common theme to the name of your files? I'm trying to understand why your files are named that way, do all have "junk.com@" in the beginning or is this some kind of an identifier that is only for your use? I ask because I also have identifiers in all my file names that are for my use only and I have them named as such that they do not cause problems with emby scraping metadata. If this is the case you should be able to use a utility like Bulk Rename Utility to easily rename them into a compliant format. You can find it here https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/ and if you need any help I will do my best if I can. If this is a possible solution I will tell you that the forums at Bulk Rename Utility is full of helpful people that will help you in configuring BRU to rename your files as needed. It can get pretty tricky and they are a knowledgeable bunch that have helped me a lot. 1 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I don't think the OP owns these folders as they only have read permissions to the shares, but I agree BRU is a great utility if the OP had write permissions 1

And number of others. However, I don't see how's any of that relevant, as stated in original post and as you've said, OP doesn't have write permissions and likely doesn't own the media, else this request would hardly be made, to begin with. And while we're at it, as Emby is Personal Media Server solution: Quote Emby is a Personal Media Server platform. You must have your own server installed and your own media (or Live TV tuner). don't quite see what's the benefit of investing and devoting time and resources in developing and implementing something like this. Happy2Play 9785 Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 I am guessing these movies are not in their own folder as that is the only time filename is used for Movies, as Emby normally uses folder name for identification.
KenHe 10 Posted November 22, 2021 Author Posted November 22, 2021 Thank you all the input. I was able to get some help to solve this using .strm file to link to the actual file. 2
