Many issues on the new update. I don't know if it's the remote location or the server.

Is it safe to use the "system.old"?

Playback issues didn't start until yesterday when the update happened. It's been running smooth for months now..

I'll get into troubleshooting after I verify.

Hi there, can we please look at an example of what you're seeing? Thanks !

@Luke

Buffering.

Can I downgrade?

Like I said, I'll go into troubleshooting if there is a real issue.

What do you want? A video of it stopping and starting?

C'mon, I don't need to start a trouble ticket if this is an internet issue.

why dont you back up and downgrade and if things go south, use the backup?

If you don't have backup of your previous \programdata folder - nope.

Or to be more precise - you can, but database changes (that come with every new server version) will likely cause you an issue. And libraries will have to be rebuilt due to indexing changes.

'Buffering' is the only information we know - so as Luke has requested - can you provide some more information, logs or examples of exactly what you are seeing - and then we can likely give you more targeted advice ..

Well, I tell it not to auto-upgrade, but that doesn't work. I am usually left with a server that doesn't work for a few days while they fix the error.

No matter what, it ALWAYS auto-upgrades.

ANYWAY!

It was the internet, not a server issue.

Well, it shouldn't. I seem to recall a topic from not so long ago, gimme a minute to find it.

Edit: Ah, well, it's actually yours. Did that ever come to some sort of conclusion?

So you're all set now? What was the internet issue?

Upload speeds were 75-201KBps. Abysimal.

Not a good speed for a direct play.

But this was a local network issue.  Completely unrelated to any update.

That is correct. Someone changed the thread title that makes this thread look like a server issue.

It wasn't. I was concerned that it was a server issue because it had just upgraded. I was wondering if I could downgrade without damage.

That is a big fat 'it depends' unfortunately.

You can technically copy the contents of the system.old over the top of your system folder and restore things (this also applies to downloading a new version and manually unzipping it over the current install, it is no different) BUT and it's a big BUT, if anything has changed from a database structure point of view - then things may go wrong.

If you do attempt a 'rollback' then a full backup and test restore is advisable - or take a 'snapshot' if using container type tools.

As has been said many times, if you want a rock solid platform then the Beta channel is not for you - stick with the Stable release.  If you are happy to occasionally have some teething issues, keep regular backups and are confident to do rollback/restores, then the Beta channel will give you the latest and greatest features.

fyi - My main system is on the Stable Release, but I run a Beta alongside using a different Port so I can see/use/break the new features without impacting my users.. ;)
