Emby only scrapes 3 actors and 2 writers? Is this default or an error?

Recently when adding new movies, I noticed Emby only scrapes the images of 3 actors all named all just titled "Actor" and 2 writers titled "writer"..

Is this a default setting, or a problem with the scraper?

I think that this is far too few, at least for the actors.  One of the great things about having information on actors is when you watched a movie, and liked one of the actors, for then to find that actor in the list, and clicking the actor to find other movies.. With only 3 actors available, that option is gone..

Can you go over a specific example.  But Cast and Crew come from the first metadata provider.

Yes, did you check what the metadata provider has for that title?

Well, As an example, I put in My Fair Lady, and only 3 actors and 2 writers are added to the roster.. In the library settings, the Open Movie Database is at the first spot, and then TheMovieDb at second.. IMDB isn't available anymore if I understood that right?

It happens to almost all the movies I add.  One exception was "A silent voice" an anime title, that actually filled right up.  Might that be because The Open Movie Database did not have info on it, and it went to the second?

I switched  TheMovieDb to first position, and it downloaded all the actors and writers.. Seems to be an issue with The Open Movie Database...

Another thing is that under the names it just says "Actor" or "Writer" when using The Open Movie Database, but when switching it actually named the role and elaborated on writing credits.. so somethings up..

Yes this a known issue as Cast and Crew only come from the first metadata provider and OMDB does no have Roles for People.  So you have to make TMDB first provider if you want this information.

HI, nothing is up, that's just all the information that Omdb has available, so that's all you'll get as happy2play has explained. There are pros and cons to each metadata provider. If any of them were perfect, then we wouldn't' need to have options to choose the ones you want.

Good to know.. Thanks for the answers..

Is there any reason we stopped using imdb? (I'm guessing it is..)

When/where did you see IMDB as a scraper option?

I thought I saw it. But a pretty long time ago.. I might have been wrong, though.

First two I've randomly found.

Hi, we don't get data from IMDb because they are not a free and open data service.

We use moviedb and omdb.

Emby have never pulled metadata from IMDB.  Metadata has always come from TMDB and OMDB for movies.

Just think they want $50,000 a year just for ratings.

AWS Marketplace: IMDb Ratings for Movies and TV/OTT Shows (amazon.com)

Or $150,000 a year for all metadata.

AWS Marketplace: IMDb Movie/TV/OTT Data (amazon.com)
