Emby should NOT be recording my existing TV shows........ There has to be a change someplace, either on my end or Emby's end. Wacco recordings.mp4 Nope, Emby shouldn't be recording those episodes. @Luke@cayars Can you look into this and figure out what's going on?
Carlo 4560 Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 I believe @Luke recently made a change and maybe this has something to do with it. Let's see what he says. 1
clarkss12 304 Posted November 17, 2021 Author Posted November 17, 2021 (edited) I am going to have a huuuuugggggggggggggeeee mess to clean up. All my prior recordings are being re-recorded..... I will never find all the duplicate episodes that are now scattered across my network....... Of course, I am being a little dramatic, but the greatest thing about the Emby DVR has now vanished..... It used to aggregate all the shows and episodes, and ONLY record the missing episodes, now, it just records everything. It is now recording every episode of The Addams Family, even though I am only missing one or two episodes at most. It never did this before...... Duplicate recordings.mp4 Edited November 17, 2021 by clarkss12 added video for explanation
Ronstang 293 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 (edited) @clarkss12 I feel your pain. Emby DVR is a mess. I used to have to have it record everything and deal with the dupes because if I checked the box not to record episodes that were in my library it would miss recordings because it seems the guide data is inconsistent, or it scrapes data from too many sources with glaring differences in what episode is what.....then I finally had most of my TV shows up to date except NEW episodes so I have now set them all to not record episodes already in my library.....and now it records everything over and over and over again, even in the same day when the same episode airs 2 or three times. It's not even smart enough to only record one that day! The really bad part is I can look at the guide and see that over the next 5-10 hours it will errantly record a bunch of dupes and if I go to each episode in the guide and click "do not record"....it STILL RECORDS all the dupes. I sure hope the new version of Live TV fixes all these issues because the current version is almost unusable. If you want a slick app that helps find duplicate files easily then try https://www.voidtools.com/ Edited November 17, 2021 by Ronstang 1
clarkss12 304 Posted November 17, 2021 Author Posted November 17, 2021 It used to work perfectly for me......... This just started awhile ago.
Carlo 4560 Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 If need be I can give you SQL code that will help you identify dupe movies or tv shows as IDed in the database.

That is why I pointed you to the "Everything" program above. It is the best program I have found for finding dupes. You can filter the search to just videos which makes if even easier. I also use it to quickly find if I already have something so I don't record it again. It's free and I always have a window open on my desktop these days, 1

clarkss12 304 Posted November 21, 2021 Author Posted November 21, 2021 Plot thickens......... Emby is doing it's job at this time. Can't see why Emby is recording the missing episodes of Columbo, with NO DUPLICATIONS, like it should, but messed up big time with the Addams family series. This is the way it has always worked. Emby recording correctly.mp4

clarkss12 304 Posted December 4, 2021 Author Posted December 4, 2021 Just checked and Emby is recording the same episode that it recorded back in January. Both recordings reside on the same hard drive, and recorded using the same Emby server. Included are the file logs and a short video to explain. Ronstang 293 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I think he is talking about this page. It determines the parameters emby uses to record the series.
clarkss12 304 Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 Yes, that box was checked........
clarkss12 304 Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 Emby is set to record episodes that are already in my library. The only difference I see is the station that is broadcasting that episode. It appears that "Get TV" does NOT record existing episodes, but "Cozi" station DOES record existing episodes...........
clarkss12 304 Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 Not sure. Have not noticed it yet.
Luke 42077 Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 OK, let us know if you see it again. Thanks.
