remotecontrol 0 Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 First time trying out Emby, and the initial scan of my music library is incredibly slow. Emby seems to be taking approximately 30 seconds per album, and I have thousands. It's been running for almost three hours and is up to 434 albums. I've tried restarting Emby as well as rebooting my PC but no dice. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Carlo 4561 Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 Hi, are these files local or remotely based? I ask because the way this works is Emby opens and reads the tagged information on every media track. The first scan can take a while but scanning after that point is quick.
remotecontrol 0 Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 Hi - thanks for responding. The files are local. After letting it run for a few more hours, the speed has increased a bit.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 If you're wondering what it's working on you can always take a look at the log or if comfortable in terminal/SSH you could tail -f embyserver.txt
