Hello good morning and first happy halloween everyone !!! I have a problem in emby livetv (m3u) and that is that when a tv channel is played it generates a file on my hard disk (raidrive folder) and of course when it takes a few hours it leaves me without capacity on the hard disk. Is there any way to play without creating the file? my configuration is emby + raidrive + windows server

In the movies it does not generate a file only on livetv. Thank you very much to all

Hi, when a file can't be direct played Emby falls back to streaming using HLS or may have to convert it on the fly.  Both of these require storage space so you will always need some working room for this.

You do not want your transcode or DVR folders set to a raidrive as this will cause them to go to the cloud.  You want both of these options set to use a local HDD with adequate space and the faster the drive the better.

Check this article for info on the Transcode folder:

Hi, I answered this in the other thread you opened with the same topic. :)

first thank you very much for answering.

Look, everything is configured in direct reproduction, the movies and series hd or 4k do not generate any file on the hard disk but in the tv channels it generates a file and everything is configured as direct reproduction. I will continue investigating thank you very much

That makes sense if talking about live TV streams if using a transport protocol.  TS doesn't include timing codes of any kind unlike HLS segmented delivery or direct playing mkv, mp4 etc which will have this information.

The dashboard is mostly correct but can be off so to make sure things are direct playing you want to look at the logs to see if any ffmpeg files are generated. If's off sometimes when something starts out playing as direct play but then errors and has to switch.

4.7 server handles this differently and shows you much more info.  Here you can see the stream had an error with direct play and had to switch.
