miniz98 73 Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 When you try to watch a show that's currently recording from the begining it constantly freezes. This has been a problem for years. I've come to the conclusion. When you try to watch the show from the begining while it's recording it should say. You have to wait till it's done. This will prevent people from attempting to start the show before it's done recording. I constantly hope there was a update to fix this. But in the meantime just notify people this feature doesn't work yet.. 1
MBSki 1114 Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Which client are you using? I'm able to watch a show that's recording on Android TV. The only issue that I have is if I watch something like a football game and I'm skipping forward past the huddle all the time it'll eventually freeze up on me. If I only skip during commercials though it does fine.
miniz98 73 Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 Android tv. Has been doing this for years. Nothing new. Allot of people on here have complained as well.

Ok, let's ask @ebr. Can you provide any assistance? Seems to be some issues watching live recordings. Shouldn't we be able to watch a recording while it's still recording?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Last Sunday I was recording 6 games and playing back 2 at the same time without any issue on my Synology 920+. I could not do this with the stock 920+ but after I added the 2 nvme SSD configured as read/write in my NAS it made a world of difference. When I was running on Windows I also used SSDs for recording and for transcoding as well. Live TV is IO intensive while sharing a tuner, doing recording, possibly transcoding and/or direct streaming. The use of SSDs (even cheap ones) make a world of difference for TV use.
MBSki 1114 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 @cayarsYea, why didn't I think of that. We just talked about that a few days ago! @miniz98 Is your Emby Server on an nvme or SSD?
miniz98 73 Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 (edited) There are no issues recording and playing shows. It's when a show is 75 percent recorded and you want to start that show from the begining. I'm using ssd and the pc will handle a ton more than simple emby. Edited October 27, 2021 by miniz98

For me it doesn't matter how much is recorded as I can always playback the file. Does this happen to you in only certain types of shows, perhaps long sporting events? Does this only happen with certain Emby clients? Do you happen to know what method is used for playback?
miniz98 73 Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 Happens on any show. Not sure what type of method using for playback.
Luke 42079 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Hi there, can we please look at an example? Thanks.
