So, to be clear there is no clear solution to this problem as in there's no plugin that can be made resolve this issue?

It’s best to focus on prevention. If you use something other than Emby to create nfo files, then you want to make sure all people that it writes to the nfo have external ids attached.

The end result of all of this thread is that the option to add a provider id in the metadata editor for people doesn't sound like its ever going to happen.  That keeps being skimmed over, and unless every metadata provider adds everyone else's ids and every person that ever appeared in anything then its not going to fix that way either. 
So for people that don't have ids on tmdb, tvdb and tvmaze, and probably never will, there is never going to be a solution and you are not going to have the option within Emby to manually fix it either.

There must be some reason or other that the team are not going to do it, and are constantly beating around the bush and not adding this functionality.  Its always some other reason in their replies.  I have to assume that,

1 . They don't want to because its bothersome, or difficult in some way.
2.  They have different priorities, which usually means revenue....

Its the same deal with audio books and ebooks. 

There is little or no reason not to add support for these, unless priorities lie elsewhere or too much has to be done.

Many things have been on the agenda, or "it possible for the future" for so long, you have to assume that they are just not going to happen anytime soon, or if at all.

Expanding the platforms and devices the current Emby is on seems to be the highest priority and that makes business sense. 

The frustration for forum users is the vagueness of everything - no real answers, just fob offs....  Have you noticed how many users no longer come here? - speaks volumes....

 

Anyway we have to deal with what we have got.  And if the only way to split the duplicate people is to force Emby by rescanning the metadata and the .nfo that that's what we have.

I personally have created my own metadata readers to address this issue, so i can add my media, my metadata file and bypass the providers they depend on here.  Its not as easy as drop a file in the monitored directory and let emby do it, but its more reliable and it works every time.  Even when i move the directories etc.

Adding the provider ids to the person editor makes sense.
