wloot 6 Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 (edited) I have a TV show library (tv folder), and shows are divided into different subfolders by year. Emby has been working very well until I added a series folder named "More than Blue - The Series (2021) [tvdbid=409635]" to tv/2021. Emby began to identify the entire tv/2021 as a series folder. Carlo 4561 Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Are you using a season folder for each new show year? ie Season 1, Season 2, Season 3?

More specifically, emby will identify 409635 of "[tvdbid=409635]" as the number of season, just like all subfolders of the 2021 folder. Edited October 30, 2021 by wloot
GrimReaper 4740 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 (edited) You can easily solve your issues by adding those subfolders separately as a library paths, instead of TV show parent folder. 5 minute (repetitive) job and you're set. Edited October 30, 2021 by GrimReaper Typo

I sort them by letters, so like 30ish, I remember adding those being effing boring but still doable within 10ish minutes. Reckon it shouldn't take you much more than that even with it starting in the 60s?

How do you find things this way when you need to look at something? Example if you wanted to look at the folder for "Two and a Half Men" it would be much easier to look under "T" then 2003 which I had to just look up. How do you handle split shows technically have 2 or more different years when the show is dropped by one network then picked up by another such as Last Man Standing?

English is not my first language, and I also have many non-English shows. In general, as long as you follow tmdb/tvdb, there will be no confusion.

Sorting by year will not cause more problems. For your example here, you always need to consider whether you need to split.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 I'm just asking how you find things on disc later when you don't recall the year of the movie?
GrimReaper 4740 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 7 hours ago, wloot said: as long as you follow tmdb/tvdb, there will be no confusion. That is completely incorrect, with TVDBs (up to recently) policy to change show year at some random point with earliest Special included as it was added (luckily that appears to be abandoned), and with different years being listed at TVDB and TMDB, ending up with that "Year" not being a steady attribute nor something to be used as a guide. I have number of such items in my collection. First example that comes to mind: Battlestar Galactica, which is still listed on TVDB as "Battlestar Galactica (2003)", as it was listed originally, as Specials 1 and 2 were aired in 2003 but Season 1 actually aired in 2005 (as per TVDB), which is current year that TVDB lists: Battlestar Galactica (2003) SERIES, 2005 (kinda senseless, if you ask me) At the same time, TVDB (and IMDB) list it as year 2004 (and Season 1 as aired in 2004). So, which year is it: 2003, 2004 or 2005?
