nick naim 18 Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I have a movie in two versions (1080p and 4k HDR). The 4k version is split into two parts. I tried to follow the proper naming convention and named the movies as follows: \Movie (2021)\Movie (2021) - 1080p.ext \Movie (2021)\Movie (2021) - 4k HDR-pt1.ext \Movie (2021)\Movie (2021) - 4k HDR-pt2.ext When I had only the two 4k parts in thge folder, it showed both parts. When I added the 1080p version, it showed up as a separate movie in my library. I then tried the "group versions" feature, but then I only saw the 1080p and the 4k pt1. Is there a way to have multiple versions and multiple parts at the same time?
GrimReaper 4762 Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I believe part 2 would automatically play nevertheless, once part 1 runs it's course, but still, if you prefer them listed completely separately, you can rename those pt1 and pt2 to distinctive suffixes, i.e. something like First part and Second part or something similar, that should produce desired results? 2
nick naim 18 Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 Thanks for the reply. For me part 2 didn't play automatically after part 1. I now renamed the parts as you suggested, so now I have three "versions" of the movie: 1080p, 4k HDR - First Part, and 4k HDR - Second Part, which is indeed a good workaround. Thanks! 1
Painkiller88 250 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 i would recommend to use the tool mkvtoolnix and merge both files to one so you have a single file and don't have to bother about naming parts 1
Happy2Play 9785 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 I will search but I think this has been brought up before as there is no ability to Multi-version and File stacking. 1
Luke 42086 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 It's something we can look at improving support for. In the meantime I would suggest joining the files. Thanks.
nick naim 18 Posted October 29, 2021 Author Posted October 29, 2021 Thanks for the replies. I did end up joining the two parts of the 4k version. Things like "resume" just work better if both versions are the same duration and have the same chapter markers, etc.
