Hi,

i actually saw emby is now available in german as a skill so i installed it, linked it and it told me linked successfully.

But when i try to ask to do or start anything all i get is "i am having touble to access your emby skill"

so i am linked but it seems i can't do anything.

I have linked my account, i linked emby connect, my server is reachable from outside etc.

is there something else i need to do?

Thanks

"alexa say emby home play songs from XY" but i say it in german of course.

It is recorgnizing what i want as it says it having trouble to access the emby skill and not trying to play it with amazon or anything else, so i think it understands what i want

the result is the same, "i'm having problems to access your emby skill"

It does not say it does not understand me

My server is not using 443 as the Secure Port, i use the normal emby ports.
So is there anything else i need to open except the normal ports? Does the skill require a special port?

Thanks

The normal ports are fine to use. Have you setup a domain name or are you using a static ip?

In the server dashboard, make sure the remote (wan) access address is correct. Once that is confirmed unlink emby home from Alexa then go through the setup process again

Same problem here.

And it seems that the translation is not really good. It often plays music from Amazon Music instead emby. And if it recognizes that I mean the emby skill, it doesn't work as described.

Hi,

Danke

Exact same issue here. Soon or later I am giving up any hopes on emby + Alexa in German...

In the Network Settings you need to change the "secure connection mode" to select "Required for all remote connections", and you need to enter your domain in the external domain field.

So you force secure connection for all external connections, this is recommended or lets say a MUST for alexa to work.

After that, you need to unlink your alexa emby skill, link it again and run the setup of the skill again, and it should work.

Unfortunately it still is unusable because you can't talk to alexa like we would do it in german, instead you need to say, "Alexa ask emby home to play XY,"  which in german is like you are talking like a jugo

"alexa frag emby zuhause zu spielen FILMNAME...

Wer redet denn so

Thanks for the detailed answer.

Now I got you, I have to open access router ports for this to work. This is a no go for me, since I have closed my router down an just using home services over wireguard

So Alexa+emby will not work for me.

Anyways thx for the help.

Right it’s not an Emby thing. This is just how Alexa works.
