Playback Error No Compatible Streams are Currently Available

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I am having this issue as well. I swapped out my WD SSD last week and replaced it with a PCIE Gen4 drive from Corsair. I made a system image and moved everything over. I have no issues with anything else on this device, but suddenly any existing Emby videos will not play, "No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." error is presented. Anything new that I add, there are no issues.

Log shows:

"...reached eof, corrupted CTTS atom

...error reading header".

I actually don't even have my media local, I have a shared drive setup for it on Drive File Stream, so these movies shouldn't have been impacted by any drive change. I have 1,113 movies, and all the ones I encounter this error with, play fine in Google Drive's built in player. I did notice in the desktop server application, most of these movies are missing the video and/or audio section under media info.

Edited to add: Emby will not play any of the impacted movies on Windows, Android, or the Chromecast clients.

@atlemacks - I have split out your post into a new topic.

Unfortunately the "No Compatible Streams are Currently Available" message is more or less the only error message that exists. The text doesn't mean anything at all and specifically not what the words would normally express. Essentially it means only: "An error has occurred".

Hence it is pointless to say "I got the same error"...

Yes, unfortunately it's a very generic error message that doesn't give a clue as to the underlying reason. 100 different errors will always produce that same message.

The only way to find the underlying reason is by looking at the log files @softworkz is requesting along with commentary to match the logs. i.e. at 6pm tried playing back Top Gun which worked fine but at 6:15 tried playing back Days of Thunder which gave me the no streams available message.  This way we have something to specifically look for in the logs.
