farside847 39 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I did a search and could not find an answer. What is the preferred method of upgrading the beta server software? I am currently running 3.0.5347 and the server thinks it is up to date on my dashboard. I also tried running the scheduled task that checks for new versions. My guess is this is intentional since I am running the beta. Should I download and install over the top? Should I uninstall and re-install? Are there any database files that I should backup first to be safe? thanks again!
FrostByte 5392 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I just shutdown my server and load the new beta version right on top of the old like an upgrade. I would guess that you may lose some settings if you uninstall and reinstall every time
BATTLE DONKEY 98 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Keep in mind that updates are staggered so that it doesn't overwhelm the servers with everyone downloading all at once. You should get a prompt telling u a new version is available and a restart button to install the new version when its available to u
farside847 39 Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 Is your update level set to Beta? Hmmm. Good question. Where is this set?

oyvindo 1 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 That doesn't work. The dashboard says "Please shutdown the server and update manually." And when I do that - I end up with two Emby servers. The new doesn't pick up any of the settings from the old, and the old refuses to launch anymore. So the result is; All is lost.
