FrostByte 5392 Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Samsung removed the DTS decoder on all TVs starting in 2018. So, if your TV is >= 2018 the Emby app has always remuxed your files on the fly and you may have just missed it. Check the back of your user's manual for a chart that looks like the one in the link. teicang 34 Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Hi Frost , i confirmed my TV not support the DTS , is a new TV But i don't undestand why before to update the emby server to 4.7 the movies with DTS works , i saw several 4k DTS movies and or the emby not remux or the remux was different and my Nas was enought to process. Now the CPU reach 100% of load the movies starts but after 1 secomd freeze. To passivate this function I have to connect with PC or can I do also by android app? Wich is the function to turn off? If I turn off the remux I will hear the sound however or not ? Another test I will perform will be to load back the official TV emby App without the last modification done by Sam and see if something change.
SamES 1056 Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 It would have worked previously without transcode, but it would have been doing a remux. Transcode is converting the video, remux generally only touches the audio (at most). Remux has very low overheads and you probably wouldn't even have noticed it. You're transcoding at the moment as I introduced a change to try and improve the problem, but it actually made it worse. But it proved that my other change worked. It will all be good for you in the next USB release. 1
teicang 34 Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Ok now could be more clear, transcoding is for video and this create me problem, remux is for audio and if happen this should not create high CPU load and therefore no problem for me. Now with the actual modification not only the emby remux audio as before but in the same time also transcoding and therefore the movies stop I noticed also another little problem with the server , @Luke I transferred in ftps as usual 3 new movies inside a folder I use for emby, 1 movies happen immediately on the library , the other 2 no, I tried to refresh the folder , stop and start the server but the movies not happen, I checked inside the nas folder and they are present, any idea? If instead is without the Sam modification following what I noticed. i just load again the Samsung App official version 1.2.9 downloaded direct from your site.(replaced the last one modify by Sam ) The situation didn't change. The movies with Dts remix audio but forced also to transcode also the video. I'M sure before to update ser ver 4.7 i was be able to see it , i supposed was due to the modification done by Sam in the app, but is therefore some change happen in this new server version? Sorry for my questions but is just to undestand if with the new app i will be able again to see the movies or not actually the most of them didn't work. Or if I have to prepare myself to erase all the istallation and install again server 4.6 . I would like to avoid it because I will loose all my customization ,collection and so on . So long job to restore all of them have a hace Sunday...here very hot
SamES 1056 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Next USB version with the fix is not released yet. Worst case it will be in 14 days as that's when the current USB release will expire, so it will be published before that. Hang tight, it will fix the issue for you. 2

WOnderfull result from first tests :-))))))))) Now all the DTS track is playable, the movies is in direct play while the audio goes in transcode I also checked the AUDIO track swap and tryed to play 2 tranck in the list.....all works fine till now CONGRATULATION YOU HAVE DONE A REALY GREAT JOB Do you need some example picture? ciao \Gianni 1

Please keep an eye out for firmware updates for the TV and let us know whenever you receive one. We can give you another version of the app to test to see if we can reverse this fix and go back to the original audio switching. 1

Thanks For this year/model TV there is a firmware issue which Samsung has confirmed which is preventing the app from switching audio tracks on the client (which is required to do this and maintain DirectPlay). As a work around, when an audio track change is required, this is being confirmed on the server. In most cases, no conversion is done to the audio or video tracks, the track order is just switched in a new container on the server and it is delivered via DirectStream instead of DirectPlay. There have been some new releases over the last few weeks, for example 65” Q80A QLED 4K HDR Smart TV (2021) | Samsung Support UK Please let me know which version you install Once you have the latest installed, to disable the server-side audio switching, turn off these setting (don't forget to save at the bottom of the page) Please try playback and check whether you can now select audio tracks - if you can, please confirm with Stats for Nerds that it is still DirectPlay For 2022 models, a recent firmware update has fixed their issue, so I hope this is also resolved Don't forget to turn these settings back on after testing.

Hi Sam, after the christmas holiday I will try what you indicate. The tv says last sw loaded but I saw from the link you sent there is a new version . I will try with USB as you mentioned. Ps. I tryed without the feature ON , only english works, and with the feuture ON , I can swap from English to Italian. Yes, when you play a DTS track then the option 'Allow Audio transcoding' needs to be on, otherwise it won't be possible to play that track, so what you've observed is fine. Thanks!
