robertw3524 1 Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 I've had about 180 films of 1500 randomly start just not having posters. Items i've specifically included , items that were automatched, there's no rhyme or reason. About 1/3 of that 180 also no longer have metadata. when i go to identify them and add images, they don't stick so in an hour or two the poster or metadata isn't there. i'm on a windows machine running the current release of windows and of emby. ryzen5 1600/32gb/ rx580 and a random assortment of drives.
Luke 42086 Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
robertw3524 1 Posted October 14, 2021 Author Posted October 14, 2021 sure. in this screenshot there are 3 movies that no longer have photos, 2 that were auto done by emby and 1 that i added bc it was a best picture. the movie all quiet still has all it's metadata tho
Luke 42086 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Do you have any images in the media folder with the video?
robertw3524 1 Posted October 15, 2021 Author Posted October 15, 2021 24 hrs ago I made sure to match this movie with the link from themoviedb.org since that time the folder contains these images: which does not include the poster i matched, despite having the settings to ensure that photos are saved:

The existing poster image is a backdrop not a poster. To me Emby is presenting the image that it is provided. So these Items would require you to delete this image or Refresh w/replace images.
robertw3524 1 Posted October 15, 2021 Author Posted October 15, 2021 i had no ide where the jpg or the bif came from. its on literally every item in my library. i've always assumed it was from when i hit "refresh metatdata" and check " replace images"* or when the metadata is scraped as things are added to the library. which i haven't done since i've had this problem* it's just where i thought that stuff came from.
Luke 42086 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Images in local media folders get priority, so that's why it keeps changing back on the next library scan. You either need to delete that image, or configure emby server to save images to local media folders so that it can replace the existing one when you download a new one.
Carlo 4561 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Do you by chance have Plex or Jellyfin installed (or did) pointed to the same libraries? Have you been playing with TinyMediaManage or similar meta-data grabber? Something has made changes to your media libraries other than Emby. It's not a problem as we can help you fix it but could happen again and again if we don't find the source.
