About 5-10% of my primary/poster images appear to be thumbnails

About 5-10% of my primary images appear to be thumbnails extracted from the movie and not the poster image from tmdb.    The tmdbid of the movie is correct and being picked up correctly.

Is there any known "you need to do this" for it to be picked up properly?

Often if I simply go to the library on disk and delete the poster, then rescan metadata for that movie, it picks up the right poster.

So im confused why it didnt pick it up the first time.

Is there a log entry I should look for?  A warning or something saying couldnt download?

You likely had some network timeouts, as scanner would go through your preferred meta-scrapers in the order you set it (Library>Settings), with Screen Grabber (that's the one you get movie thumbs from) usually being the last one (unless you deliberately move it higher up), meaning there was no return from any other provider - indicating network issue. Anyway, server log would show.

Refresh Metadata, tick Replace existing images should do the same.

Makes sense.  Ill disable the screen grabber :)

A nice enhancement...  Have a checkbox for "on network issues retry" rather then just going to the next one

I wouldn't do that. Just try refreshing the metadata on one of these titles.

Where does the system store "folder" images.

When I view via folders, emby picks the first image in the sorted directory.  But it doesnt save it in the folder (I do have store images with the media in the library).  For folders, if I had to update an image of one of the movies it contains and it happens to be the one the folder view is using, I then have to update it twice.

Are you using multi-select to pick multiple movies before doing the refresh with graphic replacement?

Have you tried a library wide meta-refresh with the correct options?
