hello

i'm moving my emby from truenas jail to a ubuntu server installation and i would like to know what kind of installation i need to setup, like users on ubuntu, nfs mount folder or ftp mount folder (my media still will be on my truenas and metadata).  what precautions i need to take, any idea is helpfull to setup my server.

the only users you will need on ubuntu are the ones you need to access your nas.  emby user will be created when you install emby server.  since you'll b using nfs, you will need to create an emby user on your nas with the same uid and gid as what is created on you ubuntu box.  on your nas make sure the emby user has read access in the group that has access to the files. if you plan to store metadata alongside your media, emby will also need write access to these folders.  if you want to be able to manage your nas files from ubuntu, mke sure you create the same user you'd use on your nas on the ubuntu box, with the same uid and gid as what's on your nas.  ftp is pretty irrelevant if you have nfs set up correctly.  once you have the permissions set up correctly on both servers, edit your fstab file with the correct nfs connection to your media so that the folders will be auto-mounted on reboot.  thats about it.

thanks guys, before made a backup and installed everything on ubuntu and added the right permissions to the dataset on truenas as i already had the emby user on truenas with the right uid, restored the backup from the jail and everything is working as expected with nfs mounts on the fstab.
