Trevor68 70 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Hi, I recently setup a new Windows 10 Server, it's been running great for several weeks now, but today I notice a new Collections Library, which in itself is nice and I like the idea, but a lot of the Collections are duplicates? I have things like an Avengers folder, AND a Avengers Collection Folder. A Hangover Folder, AND a Hangover Collection Folder. Given this all happened overnight automagically, my question is how do I clean them up? Is this because my libraries are old and still contain XML files? Maybe I simply need to go remove all the XML files since the new server created and uses NFO? Then a rescan?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Hi, it's likely you you renamed the collections previously. I say this based on looking at "The Avengers" and "The Avengers Collection". Same with many of the others. If you have the option to save to NFO files please open one of these NFO files for a movie in "The Avengers" collection. Does it show both collections in that NFO file? How many collections do you presently have including the dupes? It should give you the item count at the top of the web page. Based on that page it doesn't look like a lot as it appears you're up to "Q" at the bottom of the page. If that's accurate it will be easiest to fix this manually. First know that Emby will create these with the name "Collection" in the title. So you want to remove the ones without that in the title. Do not just delete the collection as it will come back. Instead open the collection. Multi-select each movie in that collection then click the 3 dot menu and "Remove from Collection" like shown in this pic. Doing it this way you will notice the collection is removed from the database and the NFO and it won't come back again! Hope that helps.
Trevor68 70 Posted October 7, 2021 Author Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) I have 31 now, since removing the duplicate "Collection" Collections by deleting them. I have never renamed anything, in point of fact this server had no collections up until today, which is somewhat confusing why they even suddenly appeared. I feel like the dupes would be because I used to use auto box sets? my libraries date back to MB2 days. I have now deleted ALL .xml files (and also hidden metadata folders). The reason I removed the "Collection" dupes was because they were inaccurate, for example Avengers contained three movies, but Avengers Collection only two. This remained consistent across all dupes. Now I wait for them to be recreated I guess, given I only deleted them, not removed from collections like you suggest. I have rescanned the library though, and so far so good. Carlo 4561 Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Do you have NFO file saving turned on for your Movie library? If so take a look at one of the NFO files for a movie that was in both collections. How many collections are still in the NFO now after removing the dupe collection?
Trevor68 70 Posted October 7, 2021 Author Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) Interesting, all three avengers movies have NFO, but the original The Avangers had no Collection info, hence wasn't appearing. After refreshing it's metadata the collection info was added. Is there a way to have Emby refresh metadata for the entire library? Edited October 7, 2021 by Trevor68
