About library on local drive //Disk - EmbyServer 4640

Hi,
This is just a curiosity.
In Kodi there is the possibility to create a library pointing the dvd/bluray disk drive as a folder.
On Emby, is it possible to create a library like this?
I have some bluray discs and would like to be able to play inside Emby, just locally, without external clients.
If that's not possible I want to convert the disks to mkv, since I don't intend to use Kodi anymore.
Thank you from now on, thank you.

If I understood correctly, you'd like to play your media directly from the drive? DVD and Blu-Ray folder structures are supported once ripped, but AFAIK direct-drive playback ain't feasible:

Alternatively, you can make use of stubs and external player, as stipulated here:

Hi, thanks so much for the reply.
I didn't mention it because I figured Emby wouldn't have the feature, but that's exactly how Kodi handles it, with the '.disc' file.
So I created the library in Emby but when I clicked to play the video, a playback error message is displayed, with the instruction to insert the disc into the drive, but nothing happens when inserting or and it is already in the drive before clicking on play button.
My disk drive is an external usb bluray recorder.

I read in the thread of the link that you mentioned about using VLC. Did I miss something? Do I need to use VLC as an external player so that Emby can play the disc? That part I didn't understand.

I reckon that was to be used outside of Emby, with stub files used only for browsing.

However, you might configure VLC as an external player in Theater, try it out from there and see what gives.

Oh, I think I get it. Does it apply only to those who use Emby Theater? I don't use it, I prefer to use the web app and it is not possible to configure an external player in it.
Thank you for the tips.
