Hi Luke,

I have Qnap TS-221 running on ver. 4.3.3.1693 I installed emby-server-qnap-mono_4.6.4.0_arm-x19.qpkg.
Emby server is installed successfully and running when I click on Emby server it’s open on another browser but it doesn’t load anything. Please see screen shot. How do I fix it?

Thank you

@jsa288 I've merged your posting into here as it's also TS-221 related. Thanks.

Hi, again me.

As I really would love to run emby on my old TS-221 (and others obviously too:) - is there any progress?

Thank you.

I had a similar problem when trying to run Emby server on my Ts-431+. Installation was great and everything went fine. However when creating the libraries and scanning the media the server would become unresponsive. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I told Emby to not constantly scan for new content and turned off some other features that were mentioned in all the research I did. None of that helped; even just sitting there waiting to be used, Emby would become unresponsive and I would have to restart Emby server.

I decided to install it on an old Mac Mini (2011 version I believe) I had sitting around doing nothing. Installed, pointed to my QNAP to create the libraries, scanned everything (left real time monitoring off) and it's been working great. The only issue with the Mac Mini is that it doesn't auto connect to the network drives after a reboot or router reset, but that seems to be a Mac issue.

I've come to the conclusion that my QNAP just was not powerful enough to run Emby server alongside the other programs it runs. It might be the same case for your TS-221.

Hi,

thank you for your post and sharing your infos, I really appreciate.

As I also tried different "solutions" maybe this could help you:

If you create a script with Script-Editor and put this afterwards to your autostart apps, automount could work on your mac mini.

Example:

set command to "ping -c 1 192.168.0.1"

try
if ((do shell script command) contains " packets received, 0.0% packet loss") then
		mount volume "smb://Username:Password@192.168.0.1/FOLDER"

	end if
end try

Hi,

yesterday I managed to undust my old qnap TS-221, reformated and installed from scratch latest firmware: 4.3.3.2420

Installed beta emby server: emby-server-qnap-mono_4.8.0.46_arm-x19.qpkg

The good news: it's the first time, the server responded and I basically could get through the settings.

And I can start emby and see the start page.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I couldn't manage to add a valid media-directory to the server.

As far as I remember, on my current qnap TS-451D2 the setting, add directory, immediately shows different folders and sub-folders to select, after connecting with ip and user/name & pw.

On the TS-221 I couldn't get that far:

Trying to connect to my server didn't succeed, mounted the media-drive to my mac-studio with the same settings worked. (so the folder is accessable)

Enclosed some screenshots..... maybe you could point me in the right direction to continue:)

Additional info: I also tried to add my media directory on my windows computer, same problem.

I usually recommend creating a Public shared folder that is read-only for the everyone user, then you can add something like `/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Public/Videos/Series` in emby.

Thx for your input, I also tried this attempt right now.

No error message when adding the folder as source, but library still stays empty.

What exactly did you do? Can you please show a screenshot? Did you run a library scan in Emby Server after doing that?

Are you storing metadata to files or in the emby db (the default)? The former would require read/write permissions instead of read only. Could you post the server log to see if there's anything helpful in it?

Thx, hope this is the right one.

(Besides I basically use the same settings and files-structure as on my other running qnap server)

It looks like your library is pointing to a samba share on 192.168.0.2, and not on a local folder, is that correct? The screenshot appears to confirm that, and the log is flooded with errors trying to access this very samba share.

Also, this one's for @Luke, the log is full of error trying to create a port map, any idea what could cause that (probably a mono exception, in which case we won't have any choice but to disable it).

Your samba share is returning this error:

Perhaps it requires a username and password? Did you configure that in the dialog?

Thats correct.

The media folder is located on the qnap server (192.168.0.2), and it's the same address where the ember server is running.

(On my other server 192.168.0.4 - if I add a library/folder to my library, the directory selections shows folders like: share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/..... for selection.)

If it's on the same QNAP machine then I would just use the direct local path to the folder rather than the network path.

@Lukeyes, I configured user and password in the dialog.

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with that.

How would it look like?

(again: on my other qnap, I see folder suggestions and can click folders up and select the "right" media folder - here the field is empty)
