lightsout 156 Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 (edited) I have a large collection of videos that are sermons that I do not want Emby to try and retrieve any external data for. I just want everything sorted by file name and folder structure. I recently removed the library and started over a couple times trying to get this right. I have unchecked every box for metadata sources in the settings for the specific library. Such as "TVDB", etc. Regardless Emby is still pulling info from an unrelated movie for many of my file. Is there a way to completely remove this, I have the library set to "Mixed Content" if that matters. Maybe I should set it to "home movies"? Here is a screen shot of my files and what Emby is doing with them. Really appreciate some help to get this sorted. I know this is the minority use scenario but I can't be the first one that has asked this. EDIT### I see that the naming in the files alternates, some are G3 2020 and some are 2020 G3. Regardless I would like Emby to completely ignore that and just spit out the file names. Edited October 4, 2021 by lightsout
Luke 42080 Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Hi, remember that if change library options, it will only impact new content added after that, unless you do refreshes of metadata. But your best bet is probably using the home videos content type.

Thanks for the quick reply, is there no absolute way to disable all metadata retrieval? ###Edit I see that home videos does not have any metadata options. Hopefully that does the trick. I have, in the past, solved problems like this by, when creating the library, disabling all meta data sources and using only "screen grabber" for artwork. I also use that type of library for any videos I expect will not have entries in the normal sources like IMDB and TMDB etc. I have had bad luck using "home video" type libraries but I am not sure exactly why. A regular movie library with all metadata sources turned off works better. The same goes for TV type shows or shows that layout better as TV series. I simply use the correct library type with everything turned off. I do not know why regular "home video" does not work well for me but that is the case. As long as what I am doing works I no longer worry much about the "why." Edit to add: The way to disable all metadata for a library is simply, when creating the library, turn on advanced settings and go through disabling everything that is metadata related. Just to answer the 'technically possible' question... I did this for a library made up of DVD/Bluray 'special features' and had no issues. I only had nfo reading/writing enabled, and Emby only used metadata that I provided either through the UI or through nfos. I think what Luke mentioned about metadata getting associated with your content *before* you turned off the metadata sources might be the key here.

Hopefully that does the trick. What you did before disabling them will do it, but it's not necessarily quick to remove metadata that's already been downloaded, so that's why just setting up a new library might be easier.

I have started over twice, but there may have been .nfo's that I did not delete. Hoping that was the issue. 7 minutes ago, Gilgamesh_48 said: I have, in the past, solved problems like this by, when creating the library, disabling all meta data sources and using only "screen grabber" for artwork. Thank you, I did what you said but something was still getting picked up somehow, a Moviedb ID number was getting associated with a number of files. May have been leftover nfo's. Made sure none were there this time.
