Does Emby indeed need firewall rules for the DLL and the EXE?  I have three for each.  I disabled all but the EXE private profile and everything seems to work.

C:\Users\adminguy\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll
C:\users\adminguy\appdata\roaming\emby-server\system\embyserver.exe

Hi, Typically you only have to open or relax the firewall rules for executable programs.  The DLL files are used by the EXE so they don't need any special attention.

Hope that helps

That does help.   Sooo, should Emby be changed to not open up more firewall rules than needed?

By default Emby creates 4 rules, 2 for public and 2 for Private for UDP and TCP for Embyserver.exe.

Might be something with a new install as I only see exe on my primary betas and release servers.  But I do see dll for a couple of my portable test servers, but these look like something that happened in 4.7.0.9.  @Lukehas something changed here?

Will try a new portable shortly to see what is added.

What do you think has changed?

Well if I have portables that only apply exe and portable that applied dll something had to have changed.

But in a new portable only exe is created for me.

Was going to comment on the dll portable but the new portable removed all previous embyserver entries.  Always wondered why I occasionally got the firewall check when launching existing portables.
